i understand being proud of your direct ancestors and their accomplishments. i don't understand being proud of the white race in general which includes all of europe, americas, etc.

Your race is a small part of who you are and everyone white, black, brown or what have you should be proud, no one should feel inferior to another person of different race for this reason.

The problem is people often tend to take that pride way too far. I know where my various ancestors came from, Germany, Ireland, etc and am proud of that heritage but it makes me no better or no worse than any other person on this rock.

The guy screaming "Whyyyt PAR" is usually the ignorant asshat that finally discovers his "heritage" is "tainted" by his own standards somewhere down the line.

I think the "race issue" has been worn out over these boards. In my brief tenure here, I've seen it atleast half a dozen times. Its always the same and it ends the same way.

and before you start to throw stones, I'll clarify.

I'm a Texan, who has white skin color. My family heritage is predominantly cajun which would lead me to believe I have a mixture of French, Spanish, and Portuguese among others.

Im also a father, husband, Fightin' Texas Aggie, and I have several black friends. The latter being the most important question you were probably gonna ask eventually.

you and gsvol should get together and go bowling. You could then swap stories about what a swell guy Nathan Bedford Forrest was.

obviously he was a swell guy since theres a ton of memorials for him and schools named after him

:lolabove:

you obviously don't read this board very often.

But you're from California, therefore you are required by state law to drive a Prius, live in a tree, agree with anything Sean Penn says and very likely to live with a domestic partner of the same gender.

my favorite example of "interpretation"

From the "you are a terrorist" website:

"being bald"

I haven't read the entire thread yet, but wanted to post a reply to this bit. Though the Neo-Nazi thing is probably the intent, when we were in country, we were always on alert for individuals with shaved body hair.

Apparently, based solely on what I was told, some extremists will undergo a "body cleansing" before undertaking a suicide mission. This often involved removal of hair from the body.

A very bald individual was always a person of extreme interest for this very reason. No beard, no hair, no body hair, white clothing... that guy got picked up every time.
