How is this not the top story on the news? I just turned on CNN, Fox etc and its only a blurb. If Bush was still in office, this would be all over the place

I don't understand using Chinhooks in areas like that with heavy hostile presence.

I'm not military so I apologize if this is off base, but I didn't realize 31 people, much less soldiers with gear, could fit on a heli.

Was talking to a buddy who works at the program executive office for aviation(army) here at Redstone and he was commenting on the high number of them have gone down in the last year.

Is something that big flown into hostile territory often? Seems like it would be bigger, slower and easier to hit. Just an uneducated guess on my part though.

its like a flying target. I don't get it either.

Honestly, if you're using rotary wing, it really doesn't matter much which one. Route planning, flight technique, SEAD and escort are key.

Fastest straight line helicopter in the inventory. It's a function of rotor blade length and horsepower.

Just a part of the business. Helicopters have to hide because they're easy targets if you can find them. They need trees for cover enroute.

Agree. Also with RPG's, there really isnt a deterrent against them other than pilot read and react.
