USA vs Canada for the gold

Crosby just supplanted Kiffin for me.

And WTF is up with the necklace?

Canada is about 20 years behind in everything. So it's like 1990 up there, when it was still considered cool for men to wear gold chains.

Hmmm, I always assumed Canada's national anthem was "My heart will go on".

The implication being that it was cool at some point in America? Did you think this was the womens' game?

The epitome of cool. Notice the gold chain....

Exactly. I'm now a Ovechkin groupie.

welcome to the club. more because he destroys people on the ice. offensive talent and a mean streak are rarely combined like that.

ps ryan miller looks devastated right now.

Pretty much. That's what it was though. Consensus was us getting to the medal rounds was going to be a tough road.

Taking possibly the most talented hockey team ever assembled to OT in the gold medal game in their home country is pretty remarkable.

Frankly, that team wasn't as good as Gretzky's Oilers.

Coulda sworn I heard John Buccigross saying there were at least a dozen hockey HOF'ers on Canada's roster.

Either way, my point was that they were significantly more talented than we were.

Sounds like hype. They had no Gretz, Messier, Fuhr, etc. Crosby is hardly a substitute. The 88 Canadian team was badass.

Kinda doubt it...

As for the Oilers of back when, I suppose it'd be like comparing the 90's Bulls to the current Team USA. A bit apples to oranges, but in terms of sheer talent, it's an all-star squad compared to a club.

My point still stands. They are way more talented than Team USA hockey, but got beat once and taken to overtime again. I'm still impressed.

I have to take Sid over that classless punk. Not that I care for either

yeah, Crosby is a real class act, especially with all his pissing, moaning and ducking of contact. at least he stuck around this time to shake everybody's hand.

Ovie plays the game the way it was meant to played; like Gordie Howe played it. Crosby plays it like Gretzky played it.

this is a hard one to take. on one hand i love Babs and Stevie Y.

on the other, i hate that their good fortune comes at the hands of the league's biggest wimp.

i'd love to be on the flight tonight with Babcock and Rafalski. or with the aforementioned league's biggest crybaby and Brooks Orpick. or with Kane and Toews.

i hope America was paying attention this week. if they weren't, they truly missed a chance to see what makes hockey one of the greatest games played.
