We will not go after him, if he is indeed in Iran. I find it odd though that he's in Iran. He certainly would be a pretty nice chip to have in your pocket for a possible play. Iran could use him to negotiate the US to back off their nuclear program (very unlikely we would go for it though). If you're Iran then having a wanted terrorist taking up residence in your borders would add a yet another reason for further sanctions and possible military action if was thought to be likely he was indeed being harbored there. If I were Bin Laden I'm not sure I would want to be in that position but then again there are huge risks for him no matter where he goes.

I'm curious to know what our intel people think about this possibility, if they do know would we choose to make it public since we are obviously trying to appease them in some fashion and get them to the table to negotiate. If it were found to be credible and likely true he was in Iran it would throw yet another kink in the issue and open Obama to even further backlash here at home. It would certainly create a new problem to deal with.

Surely you jest, if Obama/Clinton and Holder went after bin Laden it would be to give him an award for outstanding effort in contribution to the destruction of America.

I think it would be reversed, Bin Laden would give those 3 an award for taking the destruction of America to a level Bin Laden could not reach, I would bet Bin Laden is jealous of what this regime has accomplished in such a short time.

I find this description tough to apply to the Obama admin. I think he would parade around with Obama for months to solidify his "ass kicking" side.

If he's indeed been in Iran for the last five years it doesn't say a great deal about our intelligence gathering the past few years.

Maybe the CIA needs more money?

More money is not going to fix the hole in HUMINT that Clinton left when he completely gutted the outfit because ELINT was cheaper.

While I came from the ELINT side... there is a huge need for higher quality but especially higher quantity of HUMINT.

HUMINT and CI are severely lacking directly because of what BPV mentioned.

Cue all the reflexive Democrat bashing.

I thought bin Laden was a different sect of Muslim than that which dominates Iran?

Well he is Saudi and from what I understand Saudis and Iranians do not particularly care for each other. I'm sure there are remote areas where a man like Bin Laden would be welcomed and harbored though.

Perhaps the CIA has known this for some time. I know there have been rumblings about Bin Laden being in Iran for a few years now, I'm not sure how likely it is but it is possible.

Are we talking about human and electronic intelligence? Just want to make sure I'm on the same page.

who's bashing democrats? The Clinton admin eviscerated our intelligence services. There is no debate about that. You tried to belittle our intelligence gathering capability, and in so doing, highlighted an outright failure of the Clinton admin. Bush, in one of his few good moves, started down the road of trying to help that problem. Progress will be brutally slow.

Hypothetically.

1. Gospel (unless I'm joking.)

2. Hypothetically (at the bare minimum worth consideration..........hypothetically.)

3. Hypoventerlatingly (when your reality bubble is burst big time.)

Do you think if our intelligence arm knew bin Laden's whereabouts they would be airing it on Oprah or CNN?

You have to excuse my ignorance, as you can tell I was never a member of any of our distinguished branches of service.

I don't view that as needing of an excuse. Military and defense lingo is the most jargon and acronym laden crap on earth.
