I really don't even think the 95 Huskers would run well on the 2001 Canes. There is a reason you don't see pros running the option.

It's hard to argue against a team that had Ed Reed on it. You talk about different eras and how the game changes from generation to generation.

I define a great team by two things consistent offense and superior defense with defense being the more important of the two, because a guy like General Neyland was of the mind that you could win any football game needing only 3 points to do so. There is a reason I separate the pre-50's era of football and what I call the modern era, the game is simply different, the way the positions were played changed. If someone is going to start talking about best teams of all time I submit the 1938 Tennessee Volunteers they gave up 16 points combined through 11 games and scored 293. They finished undefeated with a shutout victory over fellow undefeated team Oklahoma in the Orange Bowl snapping OU's 14 game winning streak. I base that opinion on accomplishments the argument of who would win between that team and the 04' Trojans is asinine, the same goes for any team of any era versus any other.

And that's only from the 2002 draft.

I like how the Trojan fan said USC had the better line "hands down."

I remember before the 05 Trojans lost to Vince Young there was a lot of chatter from talking heads that they were a better team than the year prior. Oops.

Pretty sure ESPN proclaimed them the GOAT in some special before that game.

One of the stupider campaigns that I've seen from ESPN.

Yeah in your dreams. It would have been a good game, but that USC, thrashed a very good Oklahoma team.. Leinart was better than Dorsey, Bush was better than Mcgahee...and the linemen..hands down go to USC..

What about your O-line vs Miami's D-Line? And what about they're defense as a whole vs your offense? They would have smashed the 04 Trojans.

The '04 USC defense was mediocre and even flat out awful at times. The '01 Canes would have scored 40 on them easily.

They shouldn't of even been undefeated. 1st game of the year Va.Tech had them beat, but the refs called a phantom offensive pass interference on VT in the endzone.

Yep. VT was in control and winning at the time. That bad call completely changed the momentum of the game. USC may have still won but that play was big.

The Stanford game was close. I'm not sure if Stanford came that close to winning, but Cal did.
