USC Recruiting and Sanctions

I understand your point but these three don't fit. And Battle went to JC in Cali but was from Florida and went to HS in Florida.

Malik is from LA, Northridge.
He can compare us directly to USC.

The others are from San Diego. Is that not a part of Southern California?

Wonder if Lamar Dawson wishes he went to Tennessee now instead of listening to Kiffin and Ed O.

Has nothing to do with where they were from. Malik's situation was extremely rare (in getting him) and likely to never happen again.

Bray and Arian were so lightly recruited they just about fell in our lap.

We will get occasional guys from Cali but there will likely never be a pipeline.

location is the #1 factor in recruiting. this is why cal can have a top-10 recruiting class despite going 5-7 and oregon has to go to the NC to do the same thing.

Sorry, Tyler Bray was not from San Diego...my bad.

Our best player at DT is a USC transfer.

Byron Moore will host Cali kids if we get them here on a visit.

We have had more than a handful, and we are in it for plenty (see my list) this year who are very talented.

If not for a Math Requirement we would also have a starting DE from Cali JUCO.

per JNewbergESPN

Put a smile on my face seeing the USC recruiting situation. Although, we know that staff and they will make sure certain defections happen to open some more spots.

You see, Lane? Cheaters never win. Karma is a [female dog]. Enjoy your dream job.

I still worry about what the NCAA will do to Tennessee, though...

What does this have to do with UT?

Everything.
The man you continue to defend was an assistant on the staff during the period in question. He came here and he thought he could get away with the same thing. So not only did he get Southern Cal in trouble with shady recruiting tactics, but he also got Tennessee in trouble using the same shady tactics with his cronies. I'll give Kiffin three more years there, then he'll be sacked.

Please provide the Cali prospects we were able to get because of Clausen, Donte or Arian Foster.

"Recruiting tactics" didn't get USC in trouble.

Turning a blind eye to an agent paying a player that was already enrolled did.

it's a coincidence florida, bama, georgia and LSU are at the top recruiting wise every year?
Alabama's not at the top because of their instate talent. The state has some talent, but it's not why Alabama is at the top.

That being said, they are close enough to plenty of talent that not having as much in-state talent as some of the other SEC schools doesn't really hold them back. Tennessee will do fine recruiting once we don't suck anymore for the same reason.

my point exactly. location. if you don't have major recruits within say a 300 mile radius you are screwed. people want their parents and friends to be able to come to the games/

Double exactly with +1.
We can and will recruit GA with the best of them. Lock up the top TN recruits like AR and Clear, thrown in some other regionals and we are COMPETITIVE. We built the house and keep improving it, they will come but we have to hussle like all the other schools do.

Weird thread for the conversaton,
but it is wrong to say that Alabama and TN have ANYWHERE close to the same amount of talent in state.

Texas has it easier than anyone.
LSU may be closely behind.
Followed by Florida schools, although Miami and FSU are there as well
And Alabama and Auburn.

Georgia has it easier than Tennessee.

Tennessee is probably 5th.

We have it easier than Arkansas, easier than Ole Miss and Miss State, easier than Vanderbilt and easier than South Carolina (which has to compete against Clemson but is often poached by Georgia and Tennessee also due to proximity). Kentucky has very little in state talent and has not been able to draw studs from areas like IN that are close.

For TN to win the SEC, we have to overcome the advantages that a few other schools have.
