USC rumored possible Jeff Fisher

I respect Coach Fisher, I think many of the Titans problems stem from the front office and the repuatation of being "cheap" in addition to draft picks not panning out. However, should a change be made, I would hope for Cowher.

I just cant see Fisher going out and recruiting..

The Titans are cheap and they have no honor about them. Just wait till they start making cuts this year.

I really hope you are right. Honestly, with all of the NCAA stuff already plaguing USC, can't imagine they would go after Lane who has already stirred up the NCAA here, even if it is only for secondary stuff. IT has received a lot of bad press and I don't think USC needs more of that right now.....

I do think Lane should come out in the media and let people know ASAP that he isn't going anywhere. They did mention his name on ESPN which could cause some recruits to squirm. We've picked up so much momentum in the last week on the recruiting trail to let a rumor mess things up.
That's why I don't think Lane goes there because of all the crap with the NCAA Investigation there, Lane has worked hard here and I think he likes it here, he even said it himself when he was hired that we had better facilities than USC, and I don't think Monte would go to USC with him....It was hard enough to get him to Knoxville....That being said, the big reason they say CPC is leaving there is because the NCAA is about to lower the boom on them...We will see though...I still stick with I don't think Lane will leave though

I agree. I'm not a huge JF fan,but he's had to deal with a lot,and Bud is cheap compared to most of the NFL. I will say the Bengals owner is probably worse though.

I don't know about that, the reason I say that is because in the past couple off seasons Adams has had a shot at getting some players that would make an impact through free agency and passed on them. He is cheap.

Especially when you go to locking out players like Steve McNair because of his contract. That's pathetic.

Went on ESPNlosangeles.com, and a couple of other names on there were DeWayne Walker from NM State and Jim Harbaugh. Lane wasn't listed on there as a potential, but Sark was.

They also said the Mike Riley did say he would be interested in the job, but also likes his life in Oregon. NOt sure if that was the political answer, but sounded like he was interested in pursuing.

If he's so cheap, how did they have salary cap issues a couple of years ago?

Because the general manger and guy who had control then was floyd reese - who's now gone - and he believed in keeping players regardless of the cost and as a result, around 2003/2004 the titans had too many bigger contracts and had to purge a whole bunch of starters

wait, i didnt read all the back and fourth in the convo

And why were there so many predictions that the Titans would be Super Bowl contenders this season if they had so many critical free agency losses after last year? The cheap owner excuse didn't appear until after about the 4th or 5th loss.

While Adams isn't the most free spending owner, Fisher seems pretty happy with that circumstance since he's been there 16 seasons now. If losing free agents was such an issue and Fisher such a spectacular coach, seems he would have had the opportunity to leave the Titans for a better situation by now.

no we as fans have said the cheap owner / gm (reinfeldt) thing since like 2006 when we started letting all of vince's WRs go (bennett, wade, etc) and didnt sign or draft anyone else; then they started not doing much in FA and the idea built, but it's been there for a while now

analysts now call it that the franchise sets a certain price they feel a player is worth, and if they go too far above that in their asking price they just say "too bad"

So you expected the Titans to struggle this season and finish somewhere around .500 because of their free agent losses?

no not at all what I was getting towards, all i was saying is the front office being "cheap" idea has been around the fanbase for a while

it's not a new thing after just this year
