We have TEs that can be possession receivers. If this year showed us anything, it's that we need speed and guys who can take the top off a defense. Nothing against Bru, but he wasn't anything special. Decent possession receiver who was a solid blocker at the position.
Yeah, we needed squirrel to be that guy

Yeah, because this board is just full of college football coaches and experts.

If Heupel had listened to VN, they would be in the hunt for a National Championship every year. šŸ˜†
Of course you would chime in. Oh Heupel is infallible. The recruits love Martinez so that makes him good. Why not try to counter my facts? Oh thatā€™s right you canā€™t. By all means try though.

what facts did you post? you posted 100% opinion with no backup. What facts do you have to back up that 21-23 all our corners were bad? I think its kinda nuts seeing how many secondary players from those teams are actually in the NFL and playing right now. See that's a fact.. there are players from those teams that not only made rosters but are playing in the NFL. So saying they were not good is kinda weird....someone good enough for the NFL is not good enough for UT?
I think the only thing we can really take from that post is that BoT is impatient, has not insight into what it took to rebuild, and wants to fire a guy that's finally showed he can do the job.

"He rebuilt the position group into strength. Obviously we should fire him."

"Heupel knew he'd finally get it turned around; shame on him."

lolol

Cool. So how many CBs from the 2021, 2022 and 2023 teams are in the NFL and actually play? And by all means how about telling me how the CBs were good from 2021-2023.

Excerpt from an AZ Sports article:

"So that's what Tennessee is trying to do everyday with Branch's people. [Tennessee is] trying to convince them to swing through, whether it's for four hours or for 48 hours, come through and take a look at campus. And to this point, they have not committed to doing that."

There are currently 3 corners 2 safeties plus Dee Willians (ST) who played for UT on the 21 22 and 23 teams currently cashing NFL paychecks.

I never said they were good I said they were not terrible. 21-23 our secondary was the walking wounded 90% of the time. Statistically they were actually above average all 3 years even with all those injuries. I do not think we started the same defensive backfield more than 2 games in a row in those 3 years combined.

Sure thing bud. All I did was post facts. Thatā€™s all I wanted from you. If you posted a bunch in defense of WM. I get it. You like him and think because of this past years success, his failures are forgiven. I donā€™t know how you can say a coach is good when he only has one good year out of 4. But you do you.
Actually, you asked for my opinion.

I gave it to you. In detail. You didnā€™t want nuance, though. You prefer black and white. Thatā€™s fine. But donā€™t ask for my opinion if that isnā€™t what you want. And donā€™t turn around and appeal to motive (I somehow ā€œlikeā€ him). Thatā€™s a piss poor logical fallacy, used to avoid addressing the actual issue.

Agreed. He is a Talented but unproven slot WR and decent returner. We need a Proven outside WR or two. The brother was a backup safety and IIRC he's a box (SS) not a coverage guy. Last I checked we don't have a dearth of safeties that can fill the box we need coverage guys. SO both of these guys would be nice to have at the right price but not someone we should be going all in on. Them being a package deal is kind of problematic also because I bet they arent giving family discounts.
šŸ¤”...and that's problematic because we're getting family discounts from non-package deal players?
