It actually doesn't really prove anything. They cheated and they won, a lot. Just try and convice a USC fan that they didn't win the NC that year. We watched all year long as they destroyed every team they played. Some announcement 7 years after the fact doesn't do anything to change what we all watched happen.

True. They won many games while cheating, and in convincing fashion. But as of today, none of that means anything anymore. They cheated, and now, seven years after the fact, they got caught, and now, they are paying the price. Southern California fans can tell themselves all they want that they won the national championship that year, but fact of the matter is that the record books, now and forever, will say either "vacant" or "none."
