That's 2006. 2005 was the Bush Push, and a win may have been enough to push them into the title game, if that's what you're thinking of. The year in question is 2004, which was Willingham's final season.IIRC, Notre Dame would have had a shot at playing in the BCS NC game had they not lost to USC that year, right? Or, am I thinking of the wrong season? (Year they got smoked by LSU in the Sugar Bowl, right?)

Bama already claimed it.
Somewhere Tubs is saying it should be Auburn's.
Former Auburn coach Tommy Tuberville said Monday the Tigers should be declared retroactively as 2004-05 national champions.
"Yes," Tuberville said. "Someone should be awarded (the) title. If not, the team that had to forfeit is not really punished."

NCAA strips USC's 2004 BCS title
First, it couldn't have happened to a better guy.
Second, are we in the clear for our '98 season? Maybe I'm just a little paranoid but NCAA seems to be out for blood lately. I was pretty young back then so I don't remember if we had any allegations floating around that may come back to haunt us.
