USF vs Florida Game Thread

Silly debate because MSU and Vandy are not the measure of the conference. On the flip side, no one is saying USF is third tier.

But they're also more consistent than Vandy and MSU, who are also in the SEC.

This is a serious question. Do you really believe MSU and Vandy are better programs than USF?

vandy and msu were in the cellar last season, and that would be close to what usf would be in this conference.
usf would probably beat vandy. msu this year, though? i'm not so sure.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying USF would come in and blow the conference away. But they'd come in and compete with the bottom half, especially if they had a decent QB. They've won 8 or more games each of the last 4 seasons, have a solid recruiting base, and put a healthy amount of players in the league.

ok, but there's a difference between competing with the bottom half of the conference and being a successful sec team, which you said they would be earlier in this thread.

Being able to compete with Vandy and MSU is evidence that USF is SEC caliber? Using that criteria, that makes all but about a handful of D1 teams worthy of joining the SEC.

MSU would kick the dog piss out of them if their QB handed it over like he did to UF today.

But technically, they're SEC caliber and that makes this lackluster outing better, no?

I didn't say they'd be a successful SEC team, I said they're SEC caliber. As I said, they can compete and beat Vandy, MSU, Kentucky, Ole Miss, and a few other SEC squads.

But obviously, most are on the opposite side of the debate, so I'll agree to disagree.

USF isn't a bad team, they'd do pretty well in the SEC actually. As I said, I don't expect Brantley to be a Heisman QB, but the boys had some bright moments. Who's looked better than him in the SEC?

With that said, Ahmad Black is trying to break the SEC record for picks in a career.

.

Lawgator and everybody else just got back from work. How did Florida look?

And good luck tonight vols!!!!!!!!!

USF turned it over and that gave the margin. It was not very eel played on either side of the ball. USF ran the ball effectively. Young front for UF needs some seasoning. Brantley throws it well, but you guys still have an iffy receiving corps.

if anything, i think the last 2 games have shown that Florida is more of a 2nd half team this year

USF drove the ball 96 yards to score on the first drive of the game. If the Quarterback would not have throuwn the ball away three times, this game would have been a shocker,,, If , ands and buts ...... he is a second year QB and it showed.

Meh...this same kid ran circles around FSU in Tallahassee last year. He's a good athlete but a shaky passer.

UF's defense adjusted well to his improv style of offense. I'm looking forward to facing a less mobile QB this week.

Honestly, if i was Uf defense i would be licking my chops at Simms' weak arm. The only thing I did not see against Oregon was any cross the middle or slants which would have been more helpful than the flats passes he was asked to throw. He may show better if this happens.
B ut hsi arm looks weak, there is no snap off the wrist with this kid that I can tell. Maybe he was dogging it for the Gators.

I expect at least 2 picks. :hi:

It'll be really annoying when it's a pretty close game, we're still movin the ball but it is a longer 2nd down... Simms tries to do too much and lets Jenkins take one for 6 on an out route.

Sounds so familiar, and I'll cringe as he drops back this time too...
