USU day 1 spring practice.

BruiserVol, thanks for posting the video. It was nice seeing some CFB even if it wasn’t Vol Ball.

You folks turning up your nose at USU, beware! Underestimating an opponent has been the downfall of many a politician (gagging), army, and sports team. I made mention previously of the hard hitting and downright mean and nasty play of Polynesians. It’s not a joke and I saw a fair number of Poly names in the video. And the depth chart. They tend to be big. We yak about our players being warriors, but these guys are really bred and raised as the real thing. They still practice (at home) ancient rituals of warriorship that would make the rest of us whimper and call for mommy. They can be darn friendly but make one mad or put them in a “war”, you do so at your own peril. If our team thinks this will be a walk over, they’re in for one h3ll of a surprise.

The video was first day spring practice which doesn’t give you much if any indication of anything. You don’t even see the full complement of players. The drills tend to be ho-hum. The real work is down the road. So don’t be fooled by what appeared to be undersized players in the video. Video, depending on distance and angle can be deceptive informationally. Especially regarding size. Plus again, you didn’t see all the players.

Daniel Gray - I was saddened to see some of you mock the guy. He was a Vol. He came to the UT when he could have gone elsewhere. I think he got screwed as did many players under the Dooley regime so never really did develop. Then we got better talent and the handwriting was on the wall. He made s wise choice to go where he stood a better chance to play. As opposed to mopping around and building up misguided courage to rob a gas station or something. Or steal a laptop. Or try to rob some students of a cheeseburger using a pellet gun. If anything, you should commend the guy for refusing to give up on his dream and hopes. So it was sad seeing some of you mock him. That kind of behavior just reinforces the stereotypical view of Tennesseans as dumb hicks and worse. Even a visiting TAMU fan in VN marveled at, to quote him, “you eat your own.” I’m grateful seeing some of you gave a frank response about Gray without putting him down.

Again, thanks BruiserVol, hopefully you find and post more videos. I think it’s cool have at least a rudimentary awareness of an opponent. Besides, you might actually learn something.

The QB seems to squeeze passes into tight spots. Receivers seemed to run pretty sharp routes but it was all mostly backyard stuff being the first day, still. . . .Beyond that, not much to be seen. Later videos will show more. Was surprised they had an indoor facility as I was under the impression they did not. Yes, ours is bigger and more fancy and all that, but theirs looked like it serves its purpose very well.

The fans don't play. They can do whatever they want. As long as the players don't underestimate them then that's all that counts.

Why not? They are nothing special. In fact, they have proven nothing other than being below averag SEC quarterbacks. It's not Andy Kelly, Heath, Peyton, Tee, or Casey back back there. Hell, it's not even Erik Ainge quality.

The potential is there with the young guys.. People on the board just seem to dismiss any notion that a young guy actually improves...

Top 10 defense that lost a ton of starters. Their solid but you played ab 3 decent teams. This LB core and defense will not be like the top defenses we see in our league. I think it will be close for a while but UT wears them down late in the second half. Win by 10 ish.

This reminds me of the NCSt hoopla a while back. All that talk about the world-beater QB and defensive back. The QB was rattled and bordered on incompetent. The defensive back had peanut crumbs on his head all night.

Looks to me like their QB zones in on his throw and never even looks anywhere else. If he does not change that come fall, He will be easy to pick off.

It was a Day 1 practice man. Little more than a, "Howdy. Good to see you all again. Wanna play pitch and catch?' You won't see any serious practice until maybe when the start actually installing real plays for game use. Surely you know that.

Yes, because the NFL clearly cares about what conference you come from. No, they care about talent and potential.

How many DB's have been drafted from UT in the past 10 years?

4.

Only 2 since 2007. Eric Berry and Jonathan Wade.

Lol, You're a fool if you think they would have a better defense playing our scehdule. No ones talking Nfl.

I'd like to point out the QBs, RB, and a few others in the videos are backups. Starters are out.
