Ut # 10...

Yeah I noticed that after I realized it was an updated list from this year. Thing is, UNC signed 4 players and was still almost Top 10. My whole point is, Duke should be Top 15 each year and they are not. Most of the Top 25 also signed at least 2 Top 100 players. It just seems like Duke isn't the team it used to be.

Duke inked 3 players last year en route to that high ranking. For the final time, no top player is going to come to a team loaded with 4 and 5 star freshmen and sophomores that aren't going to be leaving early.

Look at Duke's roster from last year:

Nolan Smith- freshman
Greg Paulus-junior (with smith possibly taking over this year)
Kyle Singler-freshman
Gerald Henderson-sophomore- might leave next year, but doubtful
John Scheyer-sophomore
Lance Thomas-sophomore
Brian Zoubek-sophomore

I obviously left out Nelson because he was a senior and Taylor King who transferred because of (gasp) lack of enough PT with all those other players.

laugh now, because they've got a head start on top classes for the next 2 or 3.

Yeah, that "elite" program has managed some risky commitments from youngsters in the Classes of '11 and '12.

For '09, they did keep Hood in-state, and they have a 3* PG.
For '10, Ferguson was a huge land. But, I have read on the web (recruiting analyst, I think Meyer, addressing the early commitment issue) that the other two '10 commitments are question marks. I have seen Euton play live, and the consensus appears to be that he has a long way to go. I know very little about Ross-Miller, other than the quick blip about him being less than impressive in a tournament, in the opinion of that one observer.

For now, when the mighty Cats have just gotten out-recruited by the Commodores, yes, I will laugh. And, the ace of the Cats' '08 Class is down to his last chance with the ACT to qualify. I'm not going to spend the summer rooting against an 18-yr-old kid who's trying to get into college, but, generally speaking, the recruiting perils of UK, however short they may last, are indeed good fodder for laughter.

Hasn't stopped kids from going to play for Eddie Munster and UF.

Donovan has had roles that needed filled each year. To say they were rebuilding this year is an understatement. Duke's "rebuilding" wound up with another 25+ win season.

With all due respect, that's just Kentucky's history recruiting. Gillespie is no Bruce Pearl. Pearl could outrecruit anyone, anywhere, anytime. Players want to play for Pearl, not Gillespie. People need to wake up and realize that Tennessee is the new Kentucky. Hail the Vols. May the Bluegrass kiss our collective ___.

You are vastly underestimating Gillespie.

Have you been in Knoxville the last three years? Pearl's first year Tennessee was picked dead last in the EAST. We won the SEC. How did Gillespie do this year with more supposed talent than Pearl had in his first year. I'll take Pearl, thank you. Who got Hopson?

I will take Pearl as well. that's not what I'm saying though. You act like Gillespie is crap compared to Bruce. Gillespie beat us with a down UK team. He also got Miller and Hood. I think Gillespie just might be a better recruiter than Bruce.

He probably is underestimating Gillispie, but he has a point with KY's history doing a lot of the recruiting. Miller and Hood are both in-state prospects. When a UK basketball coach signs players from rural KY, I'm not impressed. I expect that to happen, regardless of who the coach is.
