UT Defense = QB Exit Ramp?

Bama has put it all together this season.
Their defense has struggled for 10 straight quarters. It's very unclear if we can exploit it .... but this is the worst defensive stretch that Alabama has had in a long time. Especially, on 3rd down. Vanderbilt converted 12-18 and South Carolina converted 7-15.

The injury to Mertz was the strangest injury I think I have ever seen! Did that have anything todo with our turf?
I thought it was turf-related, but looking at the video I can't see any slipping. He's just doing a side step and then the ligament pops. Not sure if Pili's was turf-related or not - any word on that?

Not sure if opposing teams are aware of this, but in the last four games all starting QBs have exited the game due to injury (3) or poor performance (1).
Disclaimer: I am not posting this information as a call to injuring any player, nor saying that UT defenders are headhunters. I believe this pattern is just a byproduct of high pressure defense and legal, aggressive play.

1. NC State starting QB Grayson McCall replaced late in game by freshman CJ Bailey due to injury.

2. Oklahoma starting QB Jackson Arnold replaced late in game by freshman Michael Hawkins, Jr. due to poor play.

3. Arkansas starting QB Taylen Green replaced by freshman Malachi Singleton due to injury.

4. Florida starting QB Graham Mertz replaced by freshman DJ Lagway due to non-contact injury.

If this pattern holds against Bama, we might see Ty Simpson make an appearance. He's a TN 5 star who can run/pass, but he's not quite as big or fast as Milroe.

I wouldn't rejoice in our D injuring opponent players. Indeed, I have fears our pencil thin Nico may be in line for such a thing. Indeed, again, I think the earlier arrogant lauding of him has point a target on his back. Further, it might give opponent teams ideas to intentionally seek injuring Nico. Just as Bama did with Hendon, when they knocked his teeth out despite him being out of bounds. I believe you had zero intent to suggest we seek intentional physical injury to enemy combatants. Just be careful, in this age of malicious spite, finish him-Mortal Kombat mentality. Too many folks now a-days can't or won't separate imagination from reality.

Credit goes to our improved defense. I've been critical for the last 2 years of our defense, but I'm more than impressed with the improvement they made this year. This defense could win a championship if the offense could get it's act together and help out.

To be fair, we've seen backups in all 6 games if you include the two butt-whoopins

Why do I have the feeling this is going to be the week one of these teams finally puts it all together?
I re-watched the game and just a few different things and we may have been on our way. I know you can do this on about all close games. If Nico just puts a little more air on 2 of the throws White had the separation to score, Brammell caught his but out of bounds he probably would not have scored but around 35-yard gain. Nico was close to slipping out of 2 of those sacks a little more strength and awareness and he will. He missed on a few other but the only real bad pass where he forced one to Bru with 3 or 4 UF players all around Bru for interception and dropping the ball on the read give when we were rolling right down the field at the beginning.
Thats why I agree we are close just would love to see it click this week.

I'm worried more about our O line than the opposing QB. If our O Line performs as it should, we will be good. If they play like they did in last two games, I'll be worried.

He threw into double (or triple) coverage earlier in the game and somehow Brazzell (or Thornton) caught it. It was a poor choice to throw it but somehow their guys missed it and we caught it. It was a similar play to the interception.

I don’t want to entirely say this thread might have somehow jinxed things today…but this thread might have also jinxed things today.
