UT has the money, why not just pay up

With the risk of highjacking my own thread, I spoke to three students that said Nico is still on campus.

Two said they saw him getting food at cane's yesterday.

Of course this came from a pike.

Believe what you want....
A pic of him in Nashville airport earlier today already been posted in RF. So…

There are still some folks in this world that believe in ethics and principles. Kudos to Josh, Danny and Dan Lanning. Nico’s daddy and agent F’ed around and found that out the hard way.

The more I’m reading the more I believe that Daddy and the agent are the main culprits here.

Heupel didn’t seem to have a real problem letting him go. Heupel knows what it takes to be a championship QB, and maybe he came to the conclusion that Nico is not that guy.

That is the attitude that has allowed NIL to become the disease it now is. Absolutely NO ONE is above the team, and if you only play for the money, you cannot be relied on. Stop looking at instant gratification and put college athletics back where it should be. If not, remove ALL association with the Universities and just make it an NFL minor league.

Was Nico just our next JG. Big time 5-star recruit that really was not what we were told. Both were good guys but looking at production they are equal. Nico just happened to have better coaching and team but production was very close to the same.

Who is Nico’s agent? I did search and couldn’t determine.

UT will pay up. To someone worthy of that level of pay. You don’t throw good money after bad or overpay.

Because Nico sucks and isn’t worth what he was being paid, let alone more. That’s the reason we didn’t pay him. We let Rickey Gibson bend us over a barrel, and he is just fairly good, not close to great. This really speaks volumes as to what they think of Nico.
There is the difference right there, Gibson did a fantastic job last season. Its much easier to negotiate when you are deemed indispensable.

Not sure. Haven’t seen a name in print. He’s just been referred to as the guy who approached Oregon.
Best I have come up with is Cordell Landers, not an agent but an “advisor”. Just do a search if you need more. “It’s complicated.“

Really, then where is Ricky Gibson? Why was he allowed to miss the Orange and White game? Is this a double standard?

Tennessee had enough of a UPs guy telling them what they needed to do & lying to them. It was the only decision that made sense.

No way dude.

Say you've got a payroll to make with 85 guys. Your payroll is $16 million. Do you give 1 dude a full quarter of that payroll? What about the other guys on your staff?

Do you also negotiate a raise with that guy in December when he threatens to go somewhere else, only to negotiate a 80% increase four months later when he threatens to leave again?

Do you pay that dude 75% over his market value?

I would say hell no, and tell him to walk.
Squeaky wheel dont always get the grease nowadays. I tend to throw it away and replace it..

Maybe, he’s holding out for more money, he said he would enter the transfer portal in February.
