There's a good chance 3 DT commits may not make it in. I know we are on the fence with a couple of others though. As for LB's, the need for Luc was apparent yesterday. We have 2 commits in Taylor (who's gonna be good) and williams, who may de-commit. Other than that we're hurting. We're in on Jones, may get a look from Nelson, and Mosley. Now, with our current situation, we may be hurting for quality LB's. My question is are we looking at any good JC LB's? There's 1 4* DeVonta Bolden heading to Bama and only one that has interest in UT: J'Courtney Williams. I hope someone can add some insight, because I know we're in it for other DT's but LB's to me looks sad. as for recruiting.

i think the staff is pretty high on greg king. askew will get his chance come spring. we do need a couple big time lbs on board. i think we get 2 on signing day.

Since Ben Martin has stepped his game up and we are getting a couple of DEs could they move Gerald Williams back to LB or do they need the dept at End?

I think King could end up being as good as, maybe even better than, Rico McCoy. He's pretty much an athletic freak and, by most accounts, was generally underrated coming out of HS.

That said, Askew has been slow to grasp the system (which is okay) and he should be ready to work his way into the rotation in the spring. Luc is pretty much a must-get. We need a physical MLB. I think that if we can pull Christian Jones, we'll be sitting pretty in 2011.

Still hard on Bruce Irvin and very hard on LaDarius Owens...

I know we hard on Irvin and he may still visit. As for Owens, I feel he's set. Losing to OM didn't help either. I just don't see our LB situation improving or upgrading. Thompson has had injuries all year, Reviez is out with no return date, and the 2nd/3rd stringers that are playing won't cut it now or next year. We need LB recruits that Monte wants, not leftovers from Fulmer.

Nah, Gerald Williams will, stay at DE. He simply just isn't a LB...

I think the staff will be content with just getting Taylor and Luc in this class; anything besides those 2 are just a plus imo. We have 5 solid freshmen (counting Lathers) and AJ Johnson coming in next year...

We may be ok with the 2011 class, but that's 2 years away from them even seeing the field. With the Corps we have now, I don't see that upgrade. They aren't even decent, much less good. Injuries are going to happen, and the lack of depth doesn't seem to be seriously addressed eventhough I know the staff is all over the situation. The problem is I don't see the progression.

We dont need more slow LBs, we need more speed at LB > Irvin, Someone in the middle who can blow up inside runs > Luc.

Thompson, King and anyone else out there yesterday looked like they were running in sand.

But the biggest need is big uglies. The lack of quality DTs really showed yesterday. We have to commit too much inside that plays going outside are just too easy.

Ok I got King, Lathers, Askew, (guy with 2 last names), but can't remember the other. I know Johnson's coming in, but won't see the field for 2 years. I just hope they LB's we have aren't just bodies filling a slot, kind of like we had to do with the OL this year.

If we get Taylor and Luc, that's a step in the right direction. Head, you're right, our LB's had on cement shoes and Rico played uninspired football. We don't need any more slow LB's. We need someone who can fill when necessary and get sideline to sideline fast and with bad intentions.

Owens may be set, but he will be back for an official at some point. He is still interested. I think our LBs will be about the same next year, but with better depth overall. Not a big dropoff imo...

Alot of the guys that are playing now (King, Lathers, Mitchell-Thornton) are all freshmen. Give them some time. They will be very good 4 years from now, and alot better next year imo. We can't expect them to be world beaters right now...

King is going to be a monster...

Taylor is a STUD!! After seeing his stats and his video the only possible reason for him to only be a 3* is that he committed to UT. If he was going to bammer he would probably jump to a 5*.

yes i agree......we need about 3-4 LB's in this class, IMO.....combine them with Reviez, Lathers, Frazier, Thompson, King, Askew, Mitchell-Thornton, and Nelson, and our LB's could be better next year barring major injuries........

Your right, but injuries are going to happen every year. It's just this year 90% of all the injuries seems to be to our LB's. Just think if EB or even Big Dan would have gotten injured. Talk about hurting, I don't want to think about that. I think Big Dan would hurt more than Berry since we thin upfront already. But, either would be detrimental.

I agree. The loss of Dan Williams would be catastrophic. He changes the game more than any player we have...

That's what we don't have is time, unless we are willing to accept performances like yesterday for a few more years.

You have to have realistic expectations. Next year will be like this year, maybe worse. But in '11 and '12 the Vols are going to be dirty...

It all starts up front, and he's playing like a man possessed this year. I know we're 5-5, but he's playing like an All-American. I wish we had 1-2 more Big Dan's especially for next year.

I know I need to be patient with the rebuilding, but yesterday showed a glaring shortcoming in our defense and that was the LB play. It hasn't been great all year, but yesterday got me to thnking. With 4 Frosh getting time this year and 1 year in the system for all of them, hopefully they can play some smashmouth football next year. But, CLT is doing a good job with what he has.

That's what scares me, the possibility of 2-3 more years of going 6-6, 7-5, etc. I can't take it, makes me want to drank poison and die a slow agonizing death:banghead2:

Is there a chance we can get bruce irvin to switch back to UT

He likes UT, so there is a chance. Plus, he still wants to visit. I won't count him out, but I also heard he doesn't want to that the necessary classes to qualify to play in the SEC.
