Heupel's contract has playoff incentives and likely other incentives for wins, etc. I feel certain Barnes likely does also. All the coaches have those built in to their contract, I'd bet.
Pro players have incentives. There's a clip of Gronk telling Brady he needs another catch for a million dollar bonus so Brady dumps it off to him and he's on the sidelines thanking Brady and saying "I got a millie!"Oh, for sure. Which makes sense! But I have not seen A) a disincentive for coach underperformance (playing with fire) or B) what I proposed, which was a plateau incentive for players. Maybe that exists, and certainly this is not the only program that could conceive such an approach, but I think sweetening the deal on certain recruits by saying "hey, by the way, you'll receive $xMM more if we make the Final Four/$yMM more if we cut down the nets in April" is a reasonable approach in the current Wild West.
Not too many years ago, I would venture to guess there were way more LV’s fans than baseball fans. Obviously, TV changed that.I obviously do not keep up with finances in WBB. I just do not see the following as big as baseball but I may be wrong. I know there are a large group of older Summitt fans that still support women's basketball because they were her fans.
Yes, I would put a production clause in every coach's salary. You only get certain money if you win. But I also know football is king and that is where most of the money is coming from. If you are not a revenue producing sport it should be tied to wins. Just my thoughts.
This isn’t college or grade school. It’s a message board that involves lots of opinions and some speculation. There’s no grading done here or papers or thesis—just no running down players or taking cheap shots.Always doubtful of anyone else’s speculation. I don’t think you could turn in a report in college on speculation unless you wanted and deserved an F. lol
