Disclaimer: Okay, first of all, let me say that my thread title is a silly statement. I know. But, you know as well as I that this thread is coming at some point during the offseason. I'll go ahead and get it out of the way. Maybe lighten things up a bit with some good humor. So here goes:

Guys, Auburn only won 3 games last year, and Missouri only won 6. But look at the years and turnarounds they've had in 2013, especially Auburn. Do you think UT can do the same in 2014, considering Dobbs and our current freshmen will have more experience and we have a great recruiting class coming in? I'll hang up and listen.

I think having a season similar to that of this year's Auburn and Missouri teams is a bit of a stretch. I would expect 6-6, 7-5 or even 8-4 if everything goes well next year. We'll be improved, but not SECCG and NC material just yet.

I wouldn't be surprised if next season turns out similar to this year. I do believe that 2015 will be a different story. Dobbs or Ferguson will be the guy at QB, Herd will be in his second year, an unbelievable group of receivers, an experienced O-Line, experienced D-Line, the linebacking core will be amazing and it will be the team's third year in the system.

Mizzou was playing with a ton of backups last year due to injury. What you have seen this year is a true reflection of what Mizzou is. Can they sustain it long term, I'm not sure.

Auburn is the anomoly. They're had the same guys basically, but had a new coach. That coach however was pretty damn familure with what he had on the roster. He also escaped a handful of losses throughout the season including the miracle that happened last Saturday.

Tennessee will be improved in year 2 under Coach Jones I assume, but the significant leap in success you've witnessed at these two other programs wont be something comparable. Tennessee will be better, but I dont see them challenging for a trip to Atlanta next season. Now, 2015? That may be a different story.

Let me start by saying that anything can happen in a course of a year. I have to so no to that happening though.

Mizzou has had a lot of stability in their program and had a lot of injuries last year which contributed to their sub-par season.

Auburn was a year removed from have Malzahn there so the system wasn't that difficult to implement. Also they have had top 10 classes year in and out.

I believe 7-5 is more like what we will be able to do next year. Being very competitive in the 5 losses. If we could go 8-4 that would be awesome.

No but a good chance in 2015.

Let me ask another question and the answer to that will also be your answer. Can a team composed of a crap ton of freshman win consistently in the toughest conference in America?

We had way too much youth and former walk ons logging playing time to be good that soon. I think 6 to 7 wins is realistic and anything over that is overperforming next year.

The problem with Auburn last season was that they didn't have a coach. The players were already there but the missing element was a coach.

We are the opposite. We have a coach but we have no players and no depth.

So, no, we won't have a big turn around from this season to next season.

In fact, we will finish with a 5 - 7 record!!!

WINS: Chattanooga, Utah State, Arkansas State, Kentucky, & Ole Miss.

LOSES: Oklahoma, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Missouri, Vandy, & South Carolina...

Meh, I think you might could swap Ole Miss and Florida on that prediction. Florida is in real trouble fellas.

Fans like you are the reason we welcomed Texas A&M into the SEC with open arms.

You are spot on except I am more willing to say we will beat Vandy rather than Ole Miss. We will just be too young next year. More talented, but young.

Edit: not to say we won't come up with a surprise win somewhere. I would count a 6-6 season next year doable and probably as good as we should expect.

I believe you have it backwards. Auburn is great due to exceptional recruiting over the past several years. Malzahn did not make a bad team great, Chizik just made a great team bad.

Conversely Mizzou is the largest over-performer in relation to talent in the SEC. Like Vandy, who is second in that category, some of that can be indicted by other teams poor performance (UF for instance). But overall, Mizzou is the anomaly (just as Auburn was last year).

Historically, large over performances are exceptionally hard to duplicate. Bottom line: long term success is about having more recruited talent than your opponent, and Mizzou is still near the bottom of the SEC.

Florida has a lot of guys that will be coming back from injury not to mention, their recruiting class isn't too shabby so some good incoming freshman. That being said, I hope they keep Muschump a while longer. No stability in that program and certainly no identity aside from the defense.

:lolabove:College football is crazy but I expect something like stated above. Next season I would say 6-6 or 7-5 would be a good year. Any more than 7-5 Butch should get SEC coach of the year.
GO VOLS!

Georgia, Missouri, Vandy and South Carolina all lose key players that will be hard to replace. They aren't guaranteed loses at this point, imo.

Who knows what Florida will look like next year? They will be implementing a new offense and maybe Tyler Morningwood will adapt to it quickly but who knows. Their defense should be solid and they should be healthy when we play them, but, again, that is a toss up, imo.
