I dont think we have a break out year next year. 7-5 9-3 at the absolute best. Wont beat bama or ok and proly not Mizzou or usc, georgia florida and vandy are toss ups.

Disclaimer: Okay, first of all, let me say that my thread title is a silly statement. I know. But, you know as well as I that this thread is coming at some point during the offseason. I'll go ahead and get it out of the way. Maybe lighten things up a bit with some good humor. So here goes:

Guys, Auburn only won 3 games last year, and Missouri only won 6. But look at the years and turnarounds they've had in 2013, especially Auburn. Do you think UT can do the same in 2014, considering Dobbs and our current freshmen will have more experience and we have a great recruiting class coming in? I'll hang up and listen.

Best case is next years Ole Miss.

Georgia, Missouri, Vandy and South Carolina all lose key players that will be hard to replace. They aren't guaranteed loses at this point, imo.

Who knows what Florida will look like next year? They will be implementing a new offense and maybe Tyler Morningwood will adapt to it quickly but who knows. Their defense should be solid and they should be healthy when we play them, but, again, that is a toss up, imo.

Georgia loses Murray which if you haven't seen Mason, then you don't realize how that transition will be smooth. Is he going to be Aaron Murray? Nope but he will be good enough with an enormous amount of weapons around him that he will light up the scoreboards.

Florida won't be starting Skyler Mornhinweg next year since both Driskel and Murphy will be back.

You're not going to Athens next year and beating UGA with all the returning players they have .. sorry, but that's not a toss up. You got a better shot at Mizzou with them coming to Knoxville and Franklin graduating.

I do not know about a big turn around. I do however think we will win more games than we did this year. I think maybe 7-5. I am thinking we will beat GA and SC next year.

If you are selling Florida, then I am buying, HOWEVER; there are many, many, many seasons in which we are the better team but in the 3rd quarter, we look at the scoreboard and can't believe our eyes. Then we start to second guess ourselves. The coach makes some bad decisions and we lose.

Florida should be a win for us, but we always find a way to lose against them, even when we are clearly the better team.

I can't smell it!!! We will be full of freshmen scattered with some upper classmen. If some of the upper classmen are injured, then we lose depth.

Also, who in the world will be our leaders? A.J.????

The problem with Auburn last season was that they didn't have a coach. The players were already there but the missing element was a coach.

We are the opposite. We have a coach but we have no players and no depth.

So, no, we won't have a big turn around from this season to next season.

In fact, we will finish with a 5 - 7 record!!!

WINS: Chattanooga, Utah State, Arkansas State, Kentucky, & Ole Miss.

LOSES: Oklahoma, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Missouri, Vandy, & South Carolina...

WINS: Chattanooga, Utah State, Arkansas State
LOSS: Bama
Likely losses: Oklahoma, Georgia, Mizzou
Likely wins: Vandy, Ole Miss
Toss ups: USC, Florida, UGA

Mizz and Aub have both been in their systems a lot longer than we have. We also don't have the depth that they do. 7-5 season or 8-4 at best

I'm going to expect a 5-7 or 6-6 season. We will have lots of talent, BUT they will be young and will need experience. We'll be competitors for the SEC east by 2015 at the earliest IMO. Also, 2014 will be about finding the QB of the future, Worley will start in conference games, but it will not be surprising to see Riley or Dobbs start against Chattanooga or Arkansas state and games like that.

Mizzou was playing with a ton of backups last year due to injury. What you have seen this year is a true reflection of what Mizzou is. Can they sustain it long term, I'm not sure.

Auburn is the anomoly. They're had the same guys basically, but had a new coach. That coach however was pretty damn familure with what he had on the roster. He also escaped a handful of losses throughout the season including the miracle that happened last Saturday.

Tennessee will be improved in year 2 under Coach Jones I assume, but the significant leap in success you've witnessed at these two other programs wont be something comparable. Tennessee will be better, but I dont see them challenging for a trip to Atlanta next season. Now, 2015? That may be a different story.

Yep............................

a more realistic expectation would be a winning or at least a .500 season and a trip to one of the ho-hum bowls.

Let me start by saying that anything can happen in a course of a year. I have to so no to that happening though.

Mizzou has had a lot of stability in their program and had a lot of injuries last year which contributed to their sub-par season.

Auburn was a year removed from have Malzahn there so the system wasn't that difficult to implement. Also they have had top 10 classes year in and out.

I believe 7-5 is more like what we will be able to do next year. Being very competitive in the 5 losses. If we could go 8-4 that would be awesome.

Agree. A very good common sense outlook. Thinking this program is ready for that kind of leap after 3 yrs of Dooley "recruiting" is fools gold.
