News from the Mothership. This game is scheduled to be on the SEC network. It is Blacked-Out on ESPN Gameplan in Tennessee and Kentucky. As of now it is available on ESPN3 for live streaming. Please note it is subject to change. I will try to update if it changes.

That is all.

I'm sorry but I don't understand the jargon about blackouts. I haven't paid any attention to blackouts recently because I go to all of the games, but with the Kentucky game falling on Thanksgiving break, I won't be able to go. Will I still be able to watch the game on the SEC network or am I just SOL?

The "local" station that carries the SEC Network game will have it. Most carriers will have that local station as part of a satellite/cable package. If you don't have a local station with the SEC Network, you will have to find it streaming on-line or watch a replay. Regardless of the outcome, I can't imagine watching a replay of that game!

Yes it is on the SEC network. It is only blacked out ESPN Gameplan. So if you do not get the SEC network, which not everyone does, you would not get it except on ESPN Gameplan outside the the states of TN and KY.

This can't possibly be breaking news, or that big of a problem for anyone here in East TN. Why would anyone in TN or KY watch the game on ESPN Gameplan when the game is available on their local SEC Network affiliate? (CBS here in Knoxville) As far as I can tell there aren't 2 SECN games that week that would lead to regional coverage and possibly have people in West TN seeing a different game, so the game should be available to anyone in the SEC footprint on the regular SEC Network affiliate.

Which cable/satellite providers don't offer SEC Network games?

SEC Network games are always blacked out on Game Plan in the area where the SEC Network is broadcast on a local channel.

Here's the list of SEC Network affiliates in TN.

Tri Cities: WCYB - NBC
Knoxville: WVLT - CBS
Chattanooga: WDSI - FOX
Nashville: WUXP - MNT
Jackson: WJKT - FOX
Memphis: WLMT - CW

Other than DirecTV not offering MNT in HD, I don't see how any provider is not going to offer the station the game is broadcast on.

I wish they would just call the SEC Network the Jeff Pilot/Raycom Game of the Week again. The whole "Network" thing confuses people still 3 years later.

Isn't the plan to launch a legitimate network, similar to the Big 10 Network, sometime in the near future? I'm sure these games will be a cornerstone of that network's programming, so they've just rebranded it already.

This is nicely worded...I couldn't have said this better myself. :good!:

We will now return the viewers to their regularly schedule "the sky is falling" broadcast.

Maybe they're referring to bringing back the black curtains that formerly hung in Thompson-Bolling Arena?

Yeah, supposedly ESPN is going to make a new channel called ESPN SEC or something like that. Not sure everything is worked out yet though. Supposedly, it will provide a huge boost to athletic departments (and help pay off Dooley) next year or 2014.
