Still too early.

I agree. I'd like to chalk this loss up to nerves...being the SEC opener, on the road and all. However, Godley's been around the block and it was obvious he didn't "have it" today. That's telling in that there is no one else to go to. We can't continue with the errors, bad base running etc...we're just not good enough. Hopefully, Bama's pitching over the next two days will be a bit more forgiving. GBO!

I'm not saying we should have won, but the fundamental errors we have right now with a coach that's supposed to at least have this part under control is a little concerning.

Oh, I agree it's concerning, but I try to remind myself that other than Maddox(on a regular basis) we're young, stupid young. We have 20 errors this season, 10 by Simcox...AJ makes some great plays, but he's not hitting great and he's making some mistakes in the field...but he's a freshman, it is what it is. Hopefully the bat will come around for him. The base running, I'm really concerned about that, at least so far.

It's a very young, inexperienced team. There will be some good, some bad, and some moments like last night. If you can't understand that and be patient with this team, you will have a hard time following them.

Better days are coming.

looks to me like we need a change in the lineup tomorrow? what about Wormsley and Moberg and Bennett getting put in where they are desperately needed? ANY change can't hurt at this point.

Totally agree! Wormsley was a tremendous SS in high school and would most certainly not make the errors that Simcox is. Wormsley can make the plays on defense and would upgrade that position at the plate.

What does Serrano owe Simcox?

Mr. Wormsley, I'm sure your son was a very nice SS in HS. But, this ain't Webb and UT doesn't play in the small private school division.

Simcox has all of the skills and will be a great player. He is struggling right now but if Serrano makes a change, it will probably be Smart at SS and Moeberg at 2B.

Wormsley is a good player and does a good job of competing when given the opportunity. His current BA should merit more ABs for him as the season progresses.

AJ will be fine and he will be a high MLB draft choice when he leaves UT.

That was rather rude and unnecessary, you apparently really like Simcox as a player, the previous poster obviously prefers Wormsley. No need to disparage the player or the poster. Taking his high school career out of the picture and looking only at his time at UT it is hard to argue that Mr.Wormsley is any less equipped then Mr. Simcox to be in the line-up,

First, you're entitled to your opinion just like I am. I have no issues with your post other than the fact I obviously am not Mr. Wormsley. I just happen to believe it might be worth a shot to give him a try at SS for a while.

I faced Parker, Coach Wormsley and Webb enough during high school to know he can certainly play SS at a high level. What difference does the fact that Webb plays in the small private school division make in making plays defensively? The ball comes of the bat regardless who's swinging it? Does fielding ground balls and making throws against 6A public schools really change anything?

Parker has had success at the Div I level, that makes him a very good player. As I said, he should be getting more at bats. His versatility is a great plus to the program in that he has played 2B, 1B, and outfield very well. He also hits the ball and has a good avg. However, he is not a SS at this level. That doesn't make him a bad player nor does it mean he shouldn't be playing.

Simcox has the tools to play at this level and at the next level. He is struggling at this point but I don't think that will last. Ask an MLB scout at the next game about Simcox.
