UT vs. Florida Discussion

Our entire game rests on our DL.

Our offense will be fine. We will score 24-28 points, imo.

Can we hold over-hype Meyer down to 24 points? I think so

But our DL needs to put pressure on Leak a LOT and that doesnt mean just when we are blitzing.

We SHOULD be looking past UAB if we expect to have a chance in Gainesville.
UAB is a 6-5 CUSA team from a year ago...let's get real and talk about Florida.......if you want to talk about UAB go do it in the thread that was created for that. :thefinger:

look past uab and the upset WILL happen, i dont care what their record was last year. they have a qb that can tear ut's secondary to shreds. imho, 1 game at a time, ut has a week off before florida, prepare then.

yeah, you said it , YOU are looking past them. the ut coaching staff isnt, and since they have more knowledge of footall in their cuticles than you have in that water jug you call a head, they will do the right thing and take uab as a serious threat. number 1- we cant beat MTSU, the bear is dead. :finger:

The point, Jmx, is not that there's a huge difference between 6-5 and 7-4... the point is to show that you dont have a clue what you're talking about. You dont even know UAB's record was a year ago and you're yapping about what a non-threat UAB is? Wow... I can tell you've really done your homework

"I don't think most realistic VOL fans predict us to roll over the gators, but I don't think the gators will be as physical as the VOLS. Florida is traditionally more of a finese team, and I don't see this changing with UMs offense.

Wide open / spread / run and shoot amd other gimick offenses work great against weaker foes, but historically are stopped pretty cold by real defenses. I can't think of one "non-traditional" offense that has won an NCAA D1 or NFL Championship.

Physical line play, strong running game and stout defense wins championships and big games. This is why I predict a VOLS win, we should be favored in that regard over the gators. However, I do think the gators will score enough points to keep it close and interesting."

That type of statement is completely stupid. Looking past any opponent is ignorant and will get you beat but quick.

I'm glad your not UT's coach

Freak you better put a watch on oklavol, Jmxvol and Jacksonian 5151 cause when UT has their hands full with UAB then these 3 will be committing suicide.

Let's put this in context, what you are saying is the same as saying Alcoa (AA School) has no chance against Maryville (AAAA school). Well SURPRISE they do and so does UAB against UT.

volwarren here,,,,,football is 30% skill 30% size, speed, strength 30% game prep 5% spirit and 5% plain old dumb luck. flumer is playing his cards well and we will not see his hand until uf game. d has been limited to develop qb,s and offensive line. lsu will know us better.

Look guys SI does a preview and ranking of every team in the NCAA. You can find it here:

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2005/foot...0815/index.html

Florida is #3
Tennessee is #5
UAB is #46

Everybody knows you dont take any team for granted, thats a given.

But the reality is your gonna spend more time preparing for the the #10 ranked team in the nation then you do for an unranked team.

:dunno:

reality is the coaches will do that during the summer, but once camp begins all focus by both coaches and players is the first game no matter what. If you have ever played football you know that. The fact is you don't focus on the first game and lose your season is already heading down the tubes.
The reality is UT players and coaches are thinking about UAB and only UAB. They have 2 weeks to think about UF after the UAB game. Those are FACTS!

Vol67 when is the last time Tennessee lost their opening game of the season????

(I believe it was more then 20 years ago when Tennessee went 0-7 and Majors fired his coaching staff to save his own job. I dont think Tennessee has ever lost the opening game of the season under Fulmer.)

When is the last time Tennessee got beat by Florida??

Need I say more?

I don't think 67 will disagree that Florida is the more important game and a team may do more prepartations in the summer or leading into the season for a game like Florida, but once it get's to UAB game week (or whoever the opponet may be) that is the only focus.

UAB actually does pose a threat though, thats why looking past them isnt the greatest idea. Never look a gift horse in the mouth. :nono:

Who really cares....as a fan I can look past an opponent because I'm not the one doing the preparation. I trust the coaching staff will prepare appropriately for UAB (not very much). Therefore I can look ahead to the games that matter. :devilsmoke:

a loss to UAB would ruin any hopes of a NC (which may be unrealistic anyway)
