Big game coming up with the Longhorns. It'll be fun to see our full court press and how effective it is against them. What;s your score prediction?

Texas 83 Vols 75 Itll be talked up how its a good thing the Vols depth is shallow, or Texas would see Tennessee as an acronym for Duke. :blush2:

Hey you guys have no faith. I pick the VOLS to roll the horns. Tennessee 88 Texas 85. GO VOLS.

To win the Vols will have to shoot 60%+ from 3 pt range. After seeing what Reddick was able to do beyond the arc it gives me some hope that maybe Lofton can have a career game, but with the lack of depth in the frontcourt for Tennessee...

Texas 89, Tennessee 81

We will see. I really expect Pearl to try and player a little slower pace in this game. Obviously we will run off of turnovers and when we have the opening but otherwise Pearl is going to run some clock.

Both teams like to run...Pearl won't change his style for anybody....He wants to teach these guys his game. It's about getting better right now and getting better while learning coach Pearl's system.

I am not saying he is going to completely change his style. He has run some clock this year before.

It is about getting better but it's also about having a game plan that can give his team an opportunity to win. Pearl is not conceeding this game as a loss and is going to do whatever it takes to give us an opportunity in the end.

He has also put in a couple of new defensive looks this week.

I agree that we are trying to win this game completely...I just think we should play our game and not change just because we are playing on the road against a highly ranked team. Let's make them react to us. Let them be the ones to make adjustments. Take the fight to em baby....

Interesting to see what kind of improvements Pearl has made in Major Wingate. Pretty obvious he's gonna to be a better player under Pearl then Buzz, and thats just through 5 games. I'm looking for dramatic improvements in his play as the season progresses. Hes got the size he just needs some mentoring.

We'll need Wingate to pull down more than 3.6 rebounds (his average per game) in order to even play Texas close. :twocents:

I may be in the minority here but I think Major has progressed the least of anyone on the team.

I'm with ya, Freak. Major needs to get a LOT better for the Vols to be competitive in the SEC. He has the capability, I think, he just seems a little... unfocused, shall we say?

Score prediction:
Texas 89
Tennessee 75

Not being a pessimist here, guys. I think we'll be in the game until late in the second half.

i was just looking at Major from the standpoint of scoring, he was averaging 5 pts/game last year and he is averaging 12.6 pts/game this year.

Also last year he was a sub, and patterson was the starter, this year he is the starter and patterson is the sub. He's definitely not getting it done on the rebounding side though.

I hope Stanley has a solid game and doesn't think he has to be great for the home fans. Hard to predict, but I think we lose this one. 78-62 :twocents:

No only do I predict a UT win - I guarantee it.

(Where's a rim shot when you need one - can't believe I'm the first one with this joke)
