UT vs Texas Predictions

I think Wingate may be suffering the same malase as Ainge. He looks over his shoulder at Patterson and is thinking too much, afraid that he might make a mistake. He just needs time and repetitions to get his confidence up. I think he has all the tools to be a force inside. Pearl will continue to make him much better. Right now he's making baby steps towards stepping out of the nest, he will be soaring and crashing the boards like an eagle before the season is over.

yeah, we really need him to get those rebounds against Texas if we have any vision of winning.

Vols 56
Longhorns 78

I think the Vols just can not overcome Texas' height and speed. But they will play harder than the score will show. But all I say is GO VOLS and play hard :clapping:

The worst thing that could have happened for UTK was what happened last Saturday, Texas got shallacked. I think Texas will beat us by at least 20.

84-61.

Good news for us though. SEC is pretty weak this year, so we actually have a very real shot at 20+ wins and a birth in the tourney.

Our best bet is creating turnovers off of pressure. Texass doesn't have a true point guard. After that, we've got to shoot well from the outside because we won't have an answer for them inside.

We'll need Wingate to pull down more than 3.6 rebounds (his average per game) in order to even play Texas close.  :twocents:

Yeah its pretty bad that Bradshaw averages more rebs than Wingate. There is no excuse for that. It clearing shows that Bradshaw leaves it on the court after a game.

In all reality, from a size and talent standpoint, Patterson could be starting side by side with Wingate, with (oh no) Childress spelling them off the bench and Bradshaw filling in where needed. The trouble is, Childress just isn't ready to play against good competition, and Bradshaw has simply outplayed both Wingate and Patterson this season and deserves to start until proven otherwise. It's really got to be disconcerting when a 6'4" guard/swingman is the leading rebounder on the team.

That reminds me: anybody heard anything else about the rumor that Jemere Hendrix is going to be reinstated?

I can't believe all you guys were so far off?!?! I thought we would all see this comming? :D Man they played lights out today... it wasn't a game after about 8 mins., all the Vols had to do from there was hang on, instead they kept "hooking" it into "'em"...

I am going to have to eat crow boys. Not only did we beat Texas, we have more than a solid shot at being 10-0 in mid January. First time we have beaten a ranked team on the road in 5 years, way to go Bruce Pearl, Lofton, Smitt, Wingate, Bradshaw, and company. Watch out UK!
