He's been thrust into an unfavorable situation because the more talented players won't stand up and get it done. He did have some decent assists in the first half...

I still do not understand why every fan is expected to be under the same umbrella of thinking when it comes to the Vols. I have three adult boys and we do not always agree but I respect their opinion and I hope they do mine as well. I hate the groupthink title for any fan base. Beisdes if that were the case Fulmer would probably still be here. back in the day, I recall waiting for the basketball season top kick off when our football team was having a tough time. There was Vol basketball prior to BP.

The real problem on these posts are if you even suggest that we did not play well or could be better, you hate Pearl and each individual player. If you even suggest that Pearl has done a good job or that the team has achieved as well as could be expected with all the problems this year, you are a Pearlophile. Why can't we simply discuss basketball and give our opinion without being labeled something or having every thing that is said grossly exaggerated.

I don't disagree with anything you have said. The only question I would ask everyone here is, have you ever had this much interest and excitement about Vol basketball since CBP was here.

Yes, I agree...I've read alot of really negative stuff on here...I love the team, through the good times and the bad. I'm gonna cheer always, until the games are over. Do the guys frustrate me? Sure, but I still love my Vols. Go Vols, beat the kittens....Make baby cuz cry lol...

How dare you, UT never made any NCAA tournament apprarances or sweet 16's without Bruce. Especially 4 straight tournament appearances. And a sweet 16. So there. Wait, they did do all that before? Well, I guess UT did have a basketball program with that same success before Pearl. Weird...

With fans like this, UT should scrap the program. This happens over and over. Clausen, Crompton, Prince, Pearl, Hopson, Woolridge. It is amazing any decent player would ever want to play for a team whos fans actually hate their players.
UT fans will get what the deserve, a team that goes to the NIT every 6 years. Congratulations.

They have, but it's been sporadic. Ray Mears had a lot of teams that could have made some noise in the NCAAs, but they didn't always get there because they would finish second (usually a very close second) to Kentucky in the SEC back in the days when there was only one bid per conference.

Don DeVoe's 1979-83 teams made five straight NCAA appearances and won both an SEC and SECT title during that run. One of them, as I recall, got to the Sweet 16 and should have went farther, except that they lost to Ralph Sampson and the zebras.

Bruce's first five seasons (including this one) are probably the best five-year run in UT basketball history, but it's close.

There's no reason to think Tennessee will start losing when Bruce leaves, as I suspect he eventually will, for a school where he thinks it will be easier to win a championship. The institutional support and facilities are too good for that. We came back from what Wade Houston did to our program, and you can't get much lower than that. I think one of the reasons Pearl has such staunch defenders is because people still remember 101-40 and 5-22.
