85% (roughly) of the students at UU are from Utah. Probability of Mormons is high. Most are probably Jack Mormons, though.

hard to imagine it's anywhere near 85%

The 85% in state UU students is from their website. So, I'd guess at least 60%-70% are Mormons, jack or otherwise. It's gonna be a bunch either way. Now, BYU, on the other hand, 100% or close.

3/4 of utah residents are mormons?

About 63% per an article in a local paper I read a few months back. Mormon pop has been decreasing over the last few decades. SLC is approx. 50%. Most non-Mormons or Jack Mormons live in SLC and around the Ogden area.

it appears the no cal schools have locked in playing USC and UCLA every season. would be a 9 game conference schedule.

I don't Blame Utah for going ahead and taking the BCS jump. It was in their best interest but I don't think it hurts the MWC as much as people will think. Adding Boise St. and bringing their numbers with continued success I don't see how the MWC does not become an AQ conference after the next evaluation.

And here are the numbers:

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2010/writers/andy_staples/04/23/bcs-aq/index.html

Previous standings
1. SEC 22 points
2. Big 10 20.25 points
3. Big 12 20 points
3. MWC 20 points
5. PAC-10 15.75 points
6. BE 15 points
7. ACC 12 points
8. WAC 8.75 points

Now they are:

1. MWC 22.5 points (lose 5 points from Utah, gain 7 from Boise, 2 x 1.25 is 2.5)
2. SEC 22 points
3. Big 12 21.375 points (lose 1 from Neb, but gain the 1.125 adjustment so gain 1.375 points)
4. PAC 10 19 points (gain 5 points from Utah, but lose the 1.125 adjustment so gain 3.25 net points)
4. Big 10 19 points (gain 1 point from Neb, but lose the 1.125 adjustment, so lose 1.25 net points)
6. BE 15 points
7 ACC 12 points
8 Wac 0 points (screwed)

If we add a tenth team out points go down to 20.25 (4th)

All conferences (except the WAC) meet the criteria of 50% of the top conference (ACC is down to 53.3% now). Adding a 10th team probably doesn't hurt us in this criterion unless we drop off significantly the next two years (or one conference starts kicking arse).

Linking must be new in Wyoming.

Where does the PAC12 anticipate playing their conference championship game? The 49ers stadium seems like a reasonable choice?

I'm also interested to see if the PAC12 teams that will be visiting Boulder on a regular basis will incorporate anything into their training regimens to deal with the altitiude, or will they just show up with a trailer load of oxygen tanks?

Everyone seems to think Boulder is a tough place to play but it's not that terrible high of an altitude at 5000 feet. The non cheering hippie crowd makes it easy on visiting teams. Come another 2200 feet higher north to Laramie and your red blood cells better be oxygenated :)

It's why we had a decent lead on Texas for the first half last year. Until they put all there starters in after taking oxygen for a half. It's why we beat Ole miss here and in Oxford. Going to sea level to play is easy on us, we barely have to breath. (It also takes us longer to get drunk) FAU ran out of beer because our fans drank so much.

I'm calling it now! We have a chance against Texas this year in Austin. Mark it down

Delusional isnt the word. You beat a defeated UT team at UT and you think you are beating Tx at Tx?

C'mon man.

No Colt McCoy.. No Jordan Shipley...Playing at Sea level. I'm saying we have a CHANCE! It's why the game is played. We have most of our defense returning and our offense is led by one of the most underrated QB's in the nation. Austyn-Carta Samuels.

We may not do well in conference play but OOC we get Cowboy tough
