Beamer should have taken the FGs in the two fourth down situations late. he would have been only down 8 on his last drive with an actual chance to tie it up.

I don't disagree but once you make the decision to go for it. The coaches have to let the qb know get the ball to the end zone. If they pick it off si be it but you can't throw a 7 yard out in that situation. Lol

Yeah this trend of coaches giving up a sure 3 points with plenty of time left to play is interesting to say the least.

especially when it was what, 4th and 19? I could see if it was 4th and 5 or less. but 4th and 19 requires either luck, or the QB having enough time in the pocket for a 20 yard route to develop. NC was eating up Ratler on typical plays, no way to think he would have had enough time for a 20 yard route.

3pts made too much sense with that down and distance. They were already dealing with a situation where 2/3 of the outcomes of that play would have required them to get two additional scores anyway, and the sure fire 3, would have put the pressure on NC.
