I recognize there was no excuse to lose to them, but with their victory over Louisiana Tech, they are now up to 86 in the RPI with a 15-6 record. If we can just avoid any more losses to teams in the 100's range, we should be fine for the tourney.

I really hope we get there bc we start kicking a&& instead of worrying about what other teams we played are doing.

Agree on UTEP. But that aTm loss at home needs a big win to counter it. The team needs to win 8-9 more regular season with a big win IMO. 7 is clearly bubble and dependent on other bubble teams to screw up.

I said back then that UTEP would win 20 games. They may not be the best in their conference but they are better than 3/4. For those RPI junkies, that is the kind of OOC team you like to schedule- one that should have been beatable but excels in a bad conference. Southern Miss has a high RPI- would be nice if UTEP can beat them.

NC State doesn't have a bad RPI either, but we would be looking great with a 3-0 record against the ACC.

In the context of this thread, "bad loss" has a very specific meaning and the UTEP loss no longer fits that definition.

This. I said at the time they would end up not being a bad loss by NCAA committee standards. Good team in a weak conference.

The bad loss is Texas A&M they will be over 200 real soon. We better beat them next time we play them can't afford two bad losses to them.

Will only 1 high quality win get us in (UVA)? I would consider LSU, Ole Miss & Xavier good wins, but not attention grabbing wins.

A win against Florida is the only win that would remove us from the bubble.

What? We're a projected 10 seed right now. Thats not on the bubble. So saying we need a win against a top 5 team just to get off the bubble is plain wrong.

The problem is the majority of our schedule left will not help our RPI. Like tonight our RPI might actually take a hit with win over bama. We need to beat UF and Mizzou and not go one and done in the SEC tourney and handle the rest of our schedule.

We are an 11 seed on CBS..... we are still right around the bubble.

I would stop focusing on bad losses and focus on good wins. We are going to need a win versus Mizzou or Florida.

A win on the road over Bama would make our RPI go up 6 or 7 spots. It definitely wouldn't take a hit

Guys, I think I am as positive as I can be with UT sports in general. My first love is football followed by basketball. I have even been called a "sunshine pumper" on more than one occasion but you have to be realistic about the state of the basketball program.

My prediction is we will keep playing the way we have all year for the most part which is way too inconsistent. We will probably win one or two we were not supposed to and lose two or three we should have won.

Bottom line, this is inexcusable for a team with the talent and experience we supposedly have. The question is who is at fault? Who sets the tone? Answer is CCM, period! He has had three years, brought in talent and he simply cannot produce at the SEC level.

We will not make the NCAA tournament no matter how much I wish otherwise. The only way this program is going to get better is with new leadership. That means more down years ahead!!! Keep wishing for us to make the tournament but in the long run it is a bad thing if we do. Next year we will still be talking about us being a bubble team or hoping we make the NIT! CCM must go! Go Vols!

We jumped 6 or 7 seven spots with a win over Ole Miss I don't think it will be the boost that you think it will be. don't forget bama is 9-11 and just got throttled by AU.

The worst loss to this point by far was TAM. They are terrible. SC, another terrible team, beat them by 28 points. Florida is going to rock their world today.
