No doubt, yet won't they make a run in the pac 12? Maybe 3rd? Haven't really looked at their teams this year.
This lsu type team, along with wanting to go back home, is why wilcox isn't at UT anymore.

Kind of what I was getting at when I started this thread. Question is..... is it talent or Wilcox's coaching that is the problem against power running teams?
Both. He can try to scheme in the pac 12, get creative, and try to stop a player. Can't really scheme when people blow you off the ball and you can't do anything about it. He doesn't have that worry out there.
I'm probably being to hard on the guy. It just bugged me to see our defense dominated by something that is so traditional. If he had Mccullers and a more experienced Couch, the results might have been better.
Oh I don't disagree that he's limited by personnel and I believe he's an adequate DC and likely future HC candidate, it's just some of our resident geniuses were blindly asserting that an "inexperienced" Sunseri couldn't hold a candle to him. That's plainly far from reality. Sunseri's aggressive, risk-taking schemes, and his fiery, motivating demeanor are a much better fit for UT and SEC play. There will still be a learning curve as the opposition stiffens, but it's evident already that Wilcox leaving for UW was a blessing. In fact, (yes, it's still early) aside from Coiner, all the coaching changes have thus far been an improvement. This game didn't say anything about Wilcox. And I'm no Wilcox honk, glad we have sunseri, but it wouldn't matter if udub had Brian billick in the box, they were gonna get waxed.
The hat still has a bad habit of playing down to the level of the competition. They've had more than their fair share of struggles with pac teams, but always win
