‘23 VA ATH Cameron Seldon (Tennessee Commit)

You going to make the Florida game? I’ll be in For that one! Hopefully we can sneak Cam Seldon into a bench warmers jersey and have him take a couple into the Checkerboards for us!!
Sh1t I have a spare ticket for Plove if needed we can get together with OrangeJuiceJones for a tailgate. Probably the best tailgate on G10.... Always live.

Copeland was one of the best high school football players, AND, THE BEST high school basketball player I've ever seen...and, that counts among them Ron Mercer, CJ Black, Drew Maddox, Oliver Simmons, Tyler Smith, and many more.
We have to be close to the same age. I played with and against a few on that list.

44. Copeland's Sr year was my Jr year. I watched him get crushed by Lipscomb in the State football championship; then he got some revenge by winning the State championship in basketball, pretty much by himself, by beating a favored Lipscomb team.

I played against Copeland in high school. He was a ridiculous athlete. If he played in our offense today he would be a cheat code.

Besides Nico he’s my favorite player in this class no doubt. Can argue about the level of school he plays at but you can’t argue against track times 👀
The fact that he's from such a small town makes it better. He's never had access to anything close to the resources he'll have here. I can't wait to see his development after being in our S&C and Nutrition program. Right now he's one of the country's best athletes purely from genetics and hard work.

Did you see his Junior highlights?

Yes. Still don't think he and McFadden are very similar. Seldom is bigger and more physical. He is a WR that can play RB, Safety, LB and line up at TE. McFadden was a RB all the way.

The more I remember, the more Seldon reminds me of Copeland. Copeland would've definitely been a massive problem for defenses in Heupel's offense.

Seldon seems like a no BS kind of guy that just goes to work. It's gonna be something to see him take that work ethic into our S&C program and have the resources to reach his potential.

I'll make the bet that he comes in and sees the field A LOT as a true freshman. Just can't keep this kind of natural talent on the sideline. I mean, if he got here in mid-season, he'd be on the field A week or 2 later.

Maybe I'm being a bit of a homer, but I don't see another skill player even close in size, talent, or potential. Definitely the type of guy that comes around once or twice a decade.

I liked Tate. I kinda see him as an all around solid player. . . but you put these 2 guys next to each other, not much of a comparison. Seldon is just on a different level, a lot like Copeland was.

Seldon is MUCH bigger (although Copeland was a bit taller) and faster than Copeland; and, this is coming from one of the biggest Jeremaine Copeland fans in the world, as I'm sure you all can tell. Copeland went on to have a great career in the CFL...had over 10,000 yds receiving and two championships.

I think Seldon weighs about 10lbs more, Copeland was about the same height.

Love an awesome small town story. Very cool!

I'm not sure what Cordarrelle Patterson looked like coming out of high school because I didn't follow him until his CC recruitment, but they seem to have similar measurables. And it sounds like Seldon has similar versitility (even though Patterson didn't really line up at RB while at UT). Just kind of popped into my head when thinking of comparisons. What y'all think?

I didn't go to far back in the thread to see if his name has been mentioned already either.

The most comparable athlete to Seldon in high school is probably Hershel Walker.

He'll have to get faster, way faster. Herschel ran a 10.23 at UGA. About the same sizes, though; and, both of them dominated their competition.

They definitely come from similar places, rural, VERY small...although, I think Heathsville is waaaay smaller than Wrightsville, and Wrightsville only has about 2000 people in it.

Some reports show Seldon @ 210. Guess we'd have to ask @Plove23 . Either way, the comparison stands. Both are rare, ridiculously talented athletes.
He gets different results from everywhere. Between 210-220 and from 6'0 to 6'2. I think he's closer to 6'2 and Between 218-220. I'm 6'2 6'3 and he's like right there with me
