Strange series of events with this one. Comes off the visit with us not very heavily recruited by many at that point, glowing, basically screaming he’s going to commit without saying so. Takes a little bit longer than expected. Word is we passed. Then he commits to uscjr. Then a while later Uga offers, he flips, and rises to the number 8 cb prospect in the nation.

Not puffing my chest but I trust the coaching staff. Odd recruitment for sure. But Kirby seems to have an eye for the diamond in the rough DB prospect over the years. Will be interesting to revisit in a couple years.

Not strange at all they list as a CB we evaluated noticed he wouldn’t be able to play that position at the next level and passed, on3 doubles down on that nonsense and continues to rank him high as a CB.

No doubt just use to Georgia getting true 5 star corners not “diamonds in the rough” types at the position. Ringo was an okay comparison based on size but he was a 5 star for a reason out of HS…

Georgia’s class will be adjusted to make them fall appropriately in the rankings. Tennessee needs to do a bit more on the field to get that kind of treatment.

Cool. So will you get excited if we land 5* David Sanders? And high 4* Travis Smith? Of course you will just like everyone else will. Why though? It’s because those players are the elite guys in the class.

So if we land those guys, are their rankings just fake as well?

Yep they will be fake after David Sanders slowly but surely gets dropped 29 spots over the season to a high four star after committing to the vols

Nico was committed to Vols and ascended to the #1 recruit in the country.

Jordan Ross committed in Aug and jumped into the top 10 as On3’s #7 overall recruit last year in their final rankings.

What does last year have to do with this year? Are we suppose to be okay with our commits who we beat out big programs for dropping in rankings based on no senior film or just be okay with it? Because this last update hurt our overall team recruiting ranking…are you gonna tell us that doesn’t matter now?

What about our recruits that jumped in rankings? No problem with them moving a lot?

Two days ago we were ranked 13th in team recruiting rankings on On3 after the update we are 16th…we didn’t lose any recruits but most of them went down in rankings aside from a few (Dye and Loftin) so your argument has no bearing this year..

Better yet, tell us why it does matter. What trophy do they hand out for recruiting championships?

You present your argument as though it were against the validity of recruiting services and the system with which the rank players itself, when in reality you're simply upset that not all of our recruits got the fluff treatment. If your outrage is truly with the movement of players without any real football being played, then why aren't you equally indignant that Jayden Loftin jumped UP 200 spots based on no senior film or actual football being played?

Rodarius Jackson moved up over 100 spots. Nic Moore moved up 100 spots.

But basically you’re saying we did have guys move up this year also. You must have a serious problem with that as well?

And this isn’t the last update for the class. Recruiting ranking in July doesn’t mean diddly. Doesn’t really mean diddly anyway. Unless you believe where a site ranks our players determines how good they are?

The outrage is with the posters im talking to that will continue to use team rankings to justify a failure of the staff…you have been on this board long enough to know this, unless you just like siding with marcovol and BigOrangeTrain?

In one update we dropped 3 spots…if the next update causes us to fall out of the top 10 is that a failure of the staff? Yes or no?

It just seems like you're manufacturing that argument, though, or perpetuating it, at best. Admittedly, I've not combed thru each thread to verify this, but how large is the population of people that are using our current recruiting rankings to knock Heupel and our staff?

Rankings are a fun thing to look at and get a gauge of where our kids land in popular opinion, but they aren't really the end all, be all. And people using them to determine our team and staff success shouldn't be taken seriously anyhow, so don't let their opinion bother you.
