1973 and it only monsoons on one end of the field. The other end was dry.Great story, that reminds me of an Auburn game at Neyland back in the 70’s, it was like a monsoon, it was raining so bad, in the second half, Bill Battle had the team punting on first downs instead of trying to handle the ball, it really pissed off their Coach who refused shaking Hands with Battle when the game finished. We ended up winning 21-0.
In an interview after the game they asked Battle if the rain impacted the game, he responded by saying… “Rain, what rain? I didn’t see anything but sunshine out there,”![]()
