Fully expect Florida to win and more than likely beat Vandy down in the process. Both teams having a 4-4 record gives me a glimmer of hope though. I know it shouldn't but it does. That glimmer of hope will last all of one half... or maybe just 5 minutes.

Pulling for Vandy is disgusting but I want to see Florida lose to them in the Swamp. Florida fans could use a dose of what we've been dealing with as fans. At 4-4, their season is getting there but a loss to Vandy should put it over the top for a truly miserable season.

Honestly, I halfway hope Florida wins by 30 to shut Clay Travis up for a week or so.

It's win-win really. Vanderbilt is used to being on the bottom and Florida is used top being on top so it just seems fitting if Vanderbilt beats them to have a better record for once. In the end, I don't like Vanderbilt so if they get blown out, that's funny too.

Yeah it really doesn't matter one way or the other in this one. It's a win win situation.

Our season is already miserable, thank you very much.

This is true but they could very well finish above .500 which is more than Tennessee can say recently. To truly feel our pain, you have to finish at or below .500. Even if it's only for one season. You'd actually have to finish that poorly a few times for it to really sink in. You'll know when you're there after all the drink-in

I've never really understood the UT hatred for Vanderbilt....you own them in just about every sport.

Is it a public vs private school thing?

Nope. Just a state/rivalry thing, could care less about academics when it comes to sports. I only care about academics when it affects me personally

If they didn't play in the same conference, might just write them off like we do with Memphis in football or Middle Tennessee altogether. But when you factor in the history and being in the SEC East, definitely hate them. I hate all teams in the SEC East. I find it impossible to like a team you face every year

It's a "their fans are massive douchebags despite not winning anything ever" thing.

This also.

They constantly lose on the field and then resort to "Our players are smarter". Great?? Thought we were talking about football.

Seriously though, spending 2008 around their fans (I had Vandy season tickets that year mostly because they had a great home slate) was more than enough for me. They are the most stuck-up, better-than-you, insufferable pricks I've seen in an SEC fanbase.

I think it depends on how old you are. I'm in my 30s and when I was a kid there were still a good amount of Vandy fans. I can remember going to Vandy/UT games and there being a decent amount at games in Knoxville, and a majority of Vandy fans at Commodore Stadium. I was at games like the 1987 game at Knoxville where Vandy jumped up big early and I was sitting near the Vandy section and it was awful. It wasn't until into the 90s it seemed that their fanbase really dwindled.

Personally though for me I hate them moreso for basketball. Memorial Gym is one of the worst places I've been to as an opposing fan. It's not nearly as bad but back in the 80s/early 90s the homecooking there was awful.

Some degree yes. Some of it is same state; some is there's still some seeds of ill-will/rivalry still in the ground from previously

And some of it is of course how the geographic differences of the state have separated people into segments (east/central/west)

Never in my life did I think I'd see Ben Hill Griffin Stadium with at least 10,000+ empty seats. Wow. And it's homecoming, too.

Crowd just sounds completely dead.

We already knew the state of Florida had a lot of bandwagon fans. Jump from one winning team to the next. They finally have a bad year and lots of the fans don't care anymore. Too bad that FSU and Miami are down at the moment also. Nowhere to go, not even USF is having a good season in the Big Least
