I heard Elon fans made up roughly 75% of the crowd.

Vanderbilt: 2012 BCS National Champions. It's game over for the Big Orange. I guess I'll rush out and get my black and gold.

"They're all in." I mean everyone of their 5 fans. Oh and the coaching staff too, so that makes about 10 or 12 fans give or take a few.

They are all in. Unfortunately they are holding the 3 of clubs and the 7 of diamonds. While everyone else in the conference is holding a pair of face cards.

Yeah really. AP isn't Florida or LSU but geez...you'd think the Cinci fans would get a lil pumped for the season so I don't anticipate many cinci fans at Neyland Saturday.

Times must be real lean on Rocky Top if you have to reach that far to dig on someone. I've never understood UT fans' fascination with belittling Vanderbilt. To each their own I guess.

And yes, I for one believe they will eventually turn the football program around. Given their success in Baseball and Basketball, as well as the recent success of also-ran private schools Stanford and TCU in football, there is no reason to think that Vanderbilt can't succeed with the right coach and system. Until then have fun dogging them. Just remember that your ears are probably burning as well.

Nope. I've ALWAYS belittled the West End Idiots, no matter how good UT was. They're Vanderbilt. General Neyland hated them. That's enough for me.
That and they made a DVD for the win in 2005.

It will never happen. TCU and Stanford reside in talent rich states, and have many more players to pull out their own back yard.

I'm old school and started watching the Vols in the late 60's. Everyone back then hated Vanderbilt and I see no reason to stop now. George Cafego was always one of my favorites and his hate for Vanderbilt is legendary. It really doesn't matter whether they suck or not they have always sucked.

btw, they only made the dvd in 05 because all the Whit Taylor vhs tapes were worn out

Not to mention, the powers that be at Vandy don't want to spend the type of money needed to bring their facilities on par with the rest of the conference. Until that changes, Vandy's going nowhere.

I'm not sure they won't be going "somewhere." If the 4 super 16 conferences come to reality, they may get left out and end up in the 2nd tier with the mid-majors and top of the FCS teams. I almost expect it to happen. That opens 5 SEC slots instead of 4 and would make it more of a super conference. It happened to Rice when the SWC became the Big 12 and is likely to be on the horizon.

Not going to happen. Yes, football pays the bills at most schools (Vanderbilt not being the case with almost $2.5 Billion in endowments) so we, especially the South, think of schools in terms of football. As an Athletic Department Vanderbilt falls short competitively only in that sport.

Rice got left in the cold when the SWC was systematically destroyed by NCAA for major violations and its top schools banded with the Big Eight to form a NEW conference. If you actually believe the SEC will disband and form an entirely new conference with remnants of the Big 12 and possibly the ACC, then sure Vanderbilt could be left behind. However, if you honestly think the SEC would drop a charter member to bring in a Maryland, Virgina Tech, or Clemson you are sorely mistaken.
