is the reason I have only a half-hearted, at best, interest in the bowls this year. If (I hate starting with "if") we had beaten Vandy at home this year, I would be all into how the other SEC schools are doing and how our conference is performing. Bowl mania looses it's luster when we aren't playing, so here is to 2014 and hopefully a start of something special.

Folks like to state how irrelevant Vandy is...then proceed to bring them up at every opportunity. Sadly, James Franklin lives rent free in the head of VN.

Not meant to be a jab at you OP, just a general statement of frustration.

Go Vols!!!

They are irrelevant nationally. So is Tennessee. Unfortunately, they are the team that destroyed our bowl chances this year and they stomped the horse **** out of Dooley's losers the year before. They should be brought up at every opportunity just as a reminder and an incentive for no Tennessee team to ever sleep on that game no matter how good UT becomes in the future.

This was in another thread but I have heard Butch and Franklin have a good relationship.

In the picture it looks like Franklin is giving CBJ words of encouragement.

Also you could just as easily said if we had held on to beat UGA we'd be in a bowl.

No. I think UGA had much more talent than we did and the longer the game wore on, the better their chances. Like I said, "for me" Vandy was the game I felt we let slip away.

Vanderbilt is a viable part of the Tennessee football landscape so I don't understand the reluctance to acknowledge and discuss it. In business I'm certainly aware of my competition and if pretend I'm not my customers are likely to dismiss me as not being competent.

One thing I think we can all agree on.... It stinks to not be getting ready for a bowl game. I really wouldn't care if it was the Colin Powell Blue Helicopter Weedeater Bowl.

Not at the point in the season when UT played Vanderbilt. The team knew what they were playing for. They ****ing blew it. Against Vanderbilt.

and people on here want to look the other way but talk about how/close on the ga game even tho dc blew it when he let them drive the field in that stupid def zone..

geez this/is/the/game that has/soured me on this/staff two weeks/to prepare vandy entire sec out of game and we do a/4th and a mile fake but refuse to throw the ball downfield..

a bowl game on the line n they choked..

recruiting is great but the vandy loss was a lot kent loss for dools.. im not uire he ever recovers..

Sorry man. I didn't mean to offend you. For me that is the 1 game this year I think we truly let slip away.

THIS! Couldn't have said it better. I still have a serious case of red@ss about the performance of the whole team during that game (coaches and all).

Sadly, nothing can be done about it now - what's done is done.
