Vanderbilt...

Folks like to state how irrelevant Vandy is...then proceed to bring them up at every opportunity. Sadly, James Franklin lives rent free in the head of VN.

Not meant to be a jab at you OP, just a general statement of frustration.

Go Vols!!!

Soooooo true.

Can we stop it with these Vanderbilt threads...It will be another 25 or 80 years before they beat us again.

Bottom line is no bowl game stinks. It seems like it has been an eternity since BCS games. Gosh, I even miss Citrus bowls.

is the reason I have only a half-hearted, at best, interest in the bowls this year. If (I hate starting with "if") we had beaten Vandy at home this year, I would be all into how the other SEC schools are doing and how our conference is performing. Bowl mania looses it's luster when we aren't playing, so here is to 2014 and hopefully a start of something special.

Should be titled Bowl Games. I am not as interested as if the Vols were playing, but I would still like to see Duke win. Otherwise, would generally like to see SEC teams win, except Vandy, but they drew a pansy opponent, so little chance that they will lose.

Not at the point in the season when UT played Vanderbilt. The team knew what they were playing for. They ****ing blew it. Against Vanderbilt.

You mean Pig Howard blew it with that stupid shove in the back...I'm willing to forgive the fumble because it was a hustle play...but the block that cost us a touchdown also cost the chance for the bowl game...and that is just the way it is.

If you come to the most visited VOL message board and start a thread about our in-state rival and your interest in them you are either...
1. Stupid
2. A fair weather VOL fan
OR
3. The cleverest person in Jackson

I, for one, don't comprehend how you can pull for more than one team in the same conference. If you were Catholic and liked Notre Dame and the VOLS then ok. But the VOLS and Vandy? Come on...pick one and live with it.

TIFWIW - find a Vandy message board if you want to talk about them

Ok - I think this is a stretch - Our top receiver was out - our third string qb did not play very well at all - so the coaches tried to avoid further interceptions and quit passing the ball - we didn't have anyone to match up with Matthews - it will be a completely different world in 2014 and 2015. People forget that when Dooley was here Vanderbilt recruited on a par with us and better than us. That is why we had comparable talent on the field this year. Dooley gone. Franklin and Vanderbilt are going to look a lot more pedestrian without Dooley helping them. Just as we are starting to rise - Vandy will be starting their decline.

You are the cleverest with all of your "TIFWIW." You obviously spend way too much time on message boards. How does including Vanderbilt in a topic mean that I like the team? Maybe spend a little more time on free throws instead of 3-pointers.

Well look on the positive side. This year the "Ole Ball Sac got neutered. In 2012 we started our next 30 game winning streak against UK. In 2014 we will start our next 30 game winning streak against Vandy! In 2014, we also curb stomp gators and go to a decent bowl game. Bama may have to wait until 2015, but we will be more competitive with them.

Vanderbilt is a viable part of the Tennessee football landscape so I don't understand the reluctance to acknowledge and discuss it. In business I'm certainly aware of my competition and if pretend I'm not my customers are likely to dismiss me as not being competent.

So is hemroids but I don't think anyone really wants to discuss there's... GBO

Ok so this is my first post, and I feel I must say this. I always hear James Franklin saying we have to " own the state" blah blah blah. Well yesterday was the first time I had really been in downtown Nashville. I went to the titans game. I saw Volunteers gear in almost all the stores. I saw Vandy gear in not one store. I think he needs to work on owning Nashville before he tries to own the state. That is all... Go Vols!
