No, because it's not about Tennessee women's sports.

Did someone change the name of this forum to "Around the Men's NCAA"?

She may be a good coach but there was usually turmoil on her teams between her and some of the players. She also has a reputation of not being very friendly. I was told it appeared that she didn't care as much about the program since she and her partner adopted a baby or at least gave off that vibe.

I've met her when she brought her dog into the vet I worked at many years ago. She is very unfriendly

Just saw a tweet where it is rumored that Mike Neighbors is interviewing for the Vandy job. He just took a short handed Washington team to the Final Four. Seems to be a good coach.

Maybe he is just going for a bigger raise at Washington. Vandy has been decent in the past but if he gets the players he is rumored to be getting Washington is the place to stay.

I would think they would go with a head coach with experience but Ivy would be a change of pace and they just may do it. You cannot tell what AD Williams will do and she is eye candy.

I agree. Ivy is beautiful and she can recruit. Look likes in state recruiting wars will be turned up a notch if Vandy lands Ivey as their new coach. If she gets a young and energetic staff, this may be trouble for us.

I'm a bit surprised,it isn't like Balcomb can't coach, her teams do put up a fight,as to why they have fallen off in the last couple of years,I can't say

recruiting woes ? I'm not going to sully my computer and type Vanderbilt on it to find out :)

Which teams would be fighting in this war? Chassity Carter has already committed to Vanderbilt. Crystal Dangerfield is going to UConn. Nina Davis plays for Baylor. If Vanderbilt continues to compete against UConn and Baylor for the most talented high school players from the state of Tennessee, would it really be considered an "in-state" recruiting war?

I'm referring to the 2017 class and on forward. Tennessee didn't recruit Nina Davis. Chasity Carter chose to stay very close to home and I think wants the Vanderbilt degree. Crystal Dangerfield was going to UCONN no matter what. She was waiting on an offer and as soon as she got it she committed.

Until we start landing the big fish in state we are not and Vandy will not compete with the UCONNS of the world. I still think in state we would get most of the ones we want. Davis was never going to be a LV regardless and Dangerfield was not either. Balcomb was a good recruiter of 3 point shooters but the inside positions just did not want Vandy. To some a Vanderbilt education is hard to pass up. I kills me to say that!!

I could not agree more. It's a fantastic school. The same can be said for Stanford, Duke, and Notre Dame. When it comes to a quality college education, you cannot beat the elite private schools. A basketball scholarship is a great way to get an incredible education for free. Since Ivy League universities do not offer scholarships, these schools are a great option for a top scholar.

As much as I LOVE Ivey and the way she dresses, I would hate to see her at Vandy. She can recruit her butt off and could possibly change the game in the SEC. With Georgia on the rise as well, I feel as if the SEC is about to get really interesting. Holly has to make a statement in these next couple of years, by getting us to a FF and letting everyone know we're still relevant. It's going to be a dog fight these next few years....I'm hoping we can get back to the days where there were two SEC mainstays in the FF, and I really hope it includes us.

It will be interesting thats for sure. I thought there was no official word on the new coach. It was between Princeton coach and IVy . guess she won that battle.

We do not have a good staff for recruiting, I'm sorry to say--not to mention the way we've been playing. I like what I've read and seen of the new recruiting coordinator, but the staff as a whole has very little charisma.

It was announced to the Players this morning.

Niele Ivey HC[/QUOTE

I could be wrong but I see a comparison coming with Holly v. Ivey, Dawn Staley, Joni Crenshaw-Taylor similar to what happened with Fulmer v. Richt, Meyer, Saban in football.

Old, tired, and sort of bland vs. young, new and exciting.

If this is true it may be a problem for us on the recruiting trail locally, Ivey has done a great job recruiting (responsible for Peters, McBride, Loyd, Diggins all WNBA players) as well as Lindsay Allen, Brianna Turner, and the 2 young ladies they have coming in this year. We have to lock up the local talent asap!
