It's obvious the only thing Vols fans have at this point is history. Must suck to be the new Vanderbilt. Enjoy another 5 wins next year.

B!tch please. There are not many things that I have confidence in with Butch Jones at this point. But I am 100% confident that he won't lose to Vandy. So with that said, eat a penis.

Lol. I didn't think Vandy had fans. This is a surprise. How does it feel to be the little brother of Tennessee, play in a crappt stadium, have a punk-a$$ coach who won't be there long, and have no fan base what so ever?

I can withstand the VU trash talk. We're as bad as we've been in 50 years...it just so happens to coincide with the best they've been since 1915.

It's safe to say that VU is experiencing the "exception" to the rule just as much as UT.

UT will rise again. I think we will consistently get better also as our admins have finally made a commitment to sports. Our administration was a disgrace to the school and conference for too many years.

Like this has never been said before.

One doesn't just erase a hundred years of being the ****-covered doormat of the conference.

Since 1990 Vandy is 85-180. That is an average of 3.7 wins a year. So consistently better would be 4-5 wins a year. Just because you have a break out year and win 9 games doesn't mean you have finally made a commitment to sports. Lets play a few more games before we rush to judgement.:)

There's no doubt that Vanderbilt has performed better this season than it has in nearly a century but I still doubt they can sustain their success over the long haul.

I have no doubt that Franklin can get them into a bowl game on a consistent basis (I mean all you have to do is win 6 and you're in) but I don't think we'll be seeing a 9 win season for VU very often.

As long as Franklin is there, they'll have a shot....and won't be overlooked like they used to be....but, honestly, I feel like this year may be the year that VU fans refer to as the top of the mountain for VU football.

Whether we win 9 games next year, 3 games or something in between doesn't change the commitment made to sports. I predicted 7 wins this year and count the extra 2 as a bonus. Still a long way from expecting to win 9 every year but administrations in the past were afraid to even try. This administration at least has the balls to give athletics a chance to succeed without the built in excuses of the past.

About as bad as it gets for a fan base. They've been running their mouth for years despite the fact they've been utter trash their entire existence. Can't wait to see the garbage they spew after this season. Even though it appears they're adding more talent than ever, wouldn't surprise me at all if they start tending back into the gutter for no reason. It's happened to powerhouses such as Michigan, Tennessee, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Texas, USC, Miami etc. so of course it could happen to Vandy even with Franklin at the helm. Virtually zero fan bases bothered kicking while they are down and most fans outside of the SEC(and even in the SEC), Vanderbilt is their favorite team simply because they hate all of the good teams. I would say Vanderbilt fans seemed to have forgotten this as they beat their chests and run their mouths after one good season but they also ran their mouth even when they were going 2-10. They are seriously about the most pathetic fan base. Most of em' appear to be prejudice too.

No doubt, but its not like this new found commitment to athletics is "new"--it began with Gordon Ghee roughly 10 years ago. While it may not have reached the level it has today, the baseball program has exemplified that commitment for the majority of a decade.

Who knew it took a turkey farmer becoming the head coach at VU for the admin to finally back the football program??

In my opinion, it was more of David Williams' duty to upgrade the facilities and allocate the resources it took to retain Franklin moreso than it was his choice. VU may be run by academians but they don't have their noses too high to notice that they were operating in the dark ages when compared to their SEC counterparts. It was initially more about keeping up with the Jones' or not getting left in the dust than it was about a commitment to actually winning.

Now that VU has began to win, they can say that, but when Franklin leaves, will that commitment remain? Their actions seem to indicate they would, but I'll believe it when I see it.

Serious question: Do you think Franklin stays for another 3 years?

Actually I do. It's seems that he and VC David Williams really have a close personal and professional relationship. He tells recruits to come to Vandy and make their own legacy instead of renting one somewhere else. I think that's what he wants to accomplish in life.

I would really be surprised if he bolted.

I actually agree. I can only see him bolting for a top level job like USC, Texas, etc. And not sure he will get that opportunity.
