Vandy - Fulmer talking

What is his problem? He's like cousin Eddie, “holding out for that management position” that perfect job that he has no chance of getting. Phil, take the job from one of the few schools that even acknowledge your existence while you can.

Rant over.

Great analogy. He thinks he should be head coach of a national power. Truth is he wants a job where he really doesn't have to work that hard, particularly on recruiting.

He doesn't want any job except TN. I don't see him every showing a real interest in any job unless the AD position at TN was offered, and I don't think it ever gets offered to him.

Then why does he say that he still wants to coach and why has he expressed interest in numerous vacancies?

Fulmer always had good staffs

Fulmer had one of the weaker staffs in the SEC during most of his time at UT. You don't see many of his former staff members in head coaching positions, other than Cutcliffe and Clawsen.

#1, I haven't heard him say it much lately. #2, because it's hard to let go of something you've loved so long. I think it's one of those deals where he says he would consider the right job, but no job will every be the right job when he actually starts considering it.

Glad someone thought so, I thought it was pretty good myself :)

I grew up with Fulmer as the only UT coach I ever knew til he was fired, so he still has a place in my heart.

I wouldn't want to see him at Vandy, but I'd be ecstatic if he got the job at Minnesota. The Gophers would instantly get my support and be my "Big10" team.

Sadly, I don't see him getting a job elsewhere, though. =\

Lovie Smith is a head coach

I'd say there is zero chance Fulmer lands at Vandy. He thinks too much of his win loss record. If he ever coaches again it will be somewhere he doesn't have to face a murders row of competition every week. Sun belt or Big least, Conference USA.

He'd prefer a high profile gig, but no one is offering, nor will they.

Fulmer's lack of disciplining players would likely rule him out of consideration at Vandy.

Phil might end up at USC west one day. I hear they may an opening before too long :)

Vandy's best interest would be pursing a "gimmicky" offense like Johnsons at GT...Ken (Navy head coach) matololo(sp?lol) is the first guys i would call if I were hiring for Vandy.
