Vandy - Old Dominion

An SEC team should never depend on "luck" to beat teams like Old D, U Mass and Charleston Southern.

And two out of the three listed were luck.

But having said that to say this, the only thing SEC about Vandy is the fact they wear that patch on their uniforms.

That has nothing to do with the question I answered

Sure it does...

Nobody "lucks out" playing SEC teams when your coaching is inept. We proved that ourselves when Dooley was at the helm. Franklin, for all his douchbaggedness, was and is a decent coach and used the opponents weaknesses as his strengths. Calling it luck that he was winning in a time the SEC East was down isn't exactly accurate. Lucky timing sure, but he still had to have a good game plan to win because Vandy's talent was never on par with other SEC teams.

I'm just not seeing Mason play to the talents on his team or the weaknesses of his opponents. Hence, he got lucky against bottom of the barrel teams like U Mass or FCS teams like Charleston Southern, but will never get lucky against an SEC opponent.

I think they have a rather decent shot at 1-11 next season. Austin Peay is the only sure victory on that schedule. They've yet to beat MTSU, Houston is legit better than them, and Western is good enough to beat them too.

What's even more pathetic for VU is the MTSU and Western fans might take over their stadium. I would bet it's at worst 50/50.

Utah St could take over that stadium...

...on a week they're not playing each other.

I never said anything about Franklin being lucky. Clearly he won too often for it to just be luck. But Vandy can stumble into a win against other bad teams if Mason is given enough time. Take State for example. If they somehow lose Mullen plus everyone but their qb, next year could be really bad for them. Also, bad Mark Richt can show up against anybody
