We don't have a "rape" culture in this country. We have a hedonistic culture. Human nature at it's natural form is nasty and brutish.

No doubt. This is how we were bred to be. Catholics were the Muslims at some point. Killing those who disagreed. Whether I am or am not Christian(idk, probably not), I can respect other people and their beliefs. In other words, I'm fine with just leaving everyone else alone if they're only hurting themselves. Anyways... we live in a time where it's extremely hard to not know what's going on. It's not like the dude was locked in a cellar for 10 years and the world change. Dude says it's normal to get drunk and rape chicks. That's the Vandy culture in his words. Probably the worst defense I've ever heard, but that's his defense....

He locked himself up with that. What an idiot.

N/A -- was trying to respond using html and it failed.

One of the mods showed me how to before but how do you cross words/letters out with html on this forum? I can't find where I was told. Thanks in advance for whoever reminds me :)

There might be an easier way, but I use the [ s] (strikethrough) command:

stuff you wish you hadn't typed

Click quote on this post, and you'll see the html. :hi:

--btw, this works for bold, italics, etc. as well. Handy for mobile when you want to get fancy.

My question is what kind of lawyer would have used that as a defense and thought that he would get sympathy for his client? It is almost like he is helping convict the clients. But I am really enjoying what they are saying about the James Franklin era culture at the same time.

The kind that knew his client was boned and was reaching.

They obviously don't have a donor paid for lawyer. When you're guilty and its on a video there's not much a lawyer can do though.

These guys are about to get a real life lesson about how to live your life and how not to.

On the radio (104.5 maybe?), they were saying that Batey's legal fees were being paid by a family (or families) from Ensworth.

He probably figured too many people had heard the shaggy song "it wasn't me" so that defense wouldn't work

It's sad that they probably would have gotten away with it if they hadn't taped it since she didn't know what happened to her until she saw the video

Don't doubt it does but to say sex has nothing to do with it is naive. Point being, an hour of "fun" ruined your life forever. Was it worth it?

The fact that this rape was "accidently" found out about makes everything that has happened worth it.

None of these sleezeballs would have had anything happen to them had it not been for a non-related event.

It's really a sad state of affairs that our morals values on college campuses don't exist anymore.

I meant was the fun they had worth it to them. Of course the repercussions are worth every bit of it.
