Vandy Pre-Game

Just for fun what are Vandy fans worried about?
Gotta shut down Cooper! She is a walking/talking scoring, hamburgling and rebounding machine!
Spencer can pour it in and her assist/TO ratio is great. Spear is a three point threat everytime she touches the ball! Forwards in particular are rangey and athletic. Passing lanes get tighter. Ruby, oh yeah! If you get Cooper and Spear covered who’s going to take care of Ruby?
LVs go legitimately ten deep. Fresh legs in Q4 for the LVs!
Hopefully a little comfort for the victims of BVS out there.
Agreed! And if we can get another player hot on 3s, Tess, it’s over. We can’t lose to Vandy.

Love it! Yes, they've got PLENTY to worry about.

Shea Ralph is 0-6 as a head coach against Tennessee, and I simply do not want her first win to be against our first-year coach this weekend. I'm super tense about it all. Can ya tell? 😂

Well, if all goes to plan it won't be. Remember, CKC won't be there Sunday.

there's a little Johnny joke in there somewhere
I speak from personal experience. When my BVS flares up and my sphincter is at max contraction, all my facial wrinkles go away and my eyebrows are about two inches higher on my forehead. 🤙🏼

Not a team in the SEC who isn't capable of beating UT.If we shoot poorly like against Fla. we will get beat!

I understand! Being in Nashville makes this game priority one. We have friends who are West End Senior High Alumni and on the rare occasion they beat us it is brutal!!

Plus, the opponent never knows exactly who is going to deliver the death blow. You can count on Cooper and Spencer for the general wounding but the kill might come from Ruby; or Jewell; or Spearman; I am thinking Tess might want "that most 3 points in a game" record. She has my permission to hit 9+ against Vandy.

I feel like Latham is on the cusp of a breakout game too.

SEC games on the road can always be tricky affairs but I share your optimism. I think this LV team will steam roll Vandy.

I look for Tess to four or more threes in this game. GBO.

I feel like EVERYBODY struggles in that "building". Doesn't deserve to be called an arena or even a gym. I hate the layout and coaches on the baseline. I did notice the other night one of the two coaches actually coached from the "normal" coaches box. There is no rule that REQUIRES coaches to stand on the baseline with their team. Might not be a bad idea for visiting coaches going forward.

In that case, do they still have to stay within a confined area (presuming that there's not one marked off on the typical sideline area used elsewhere)?

View attachment 715377Only two schools with this seating that I know of and they are both in Nashville. Vanderbilt and East Nashville High School. East is of course smaller in capacity.

It is not lost on me that their gym is laid out in the shape of The Iron Cross, which was a symbol widely used by the Nazis in Germany in the 1930s-40s. Just sayn'.

😉

I love the Vanderbilt Basketball Arena. Why does every basketball stadium have to be the same? Sound bounces of the concrete walls and makes the court noise magnify. Watching Bobby Knight lose his **** and the game over having to coach from the baseline in the final seconds, while the crowd taunted him, is one of my fondest college sport's memory. That and showing up for the Vandy-Auburn football game 1:45 secs after the game started as a freshman and being down 21-0.

I played on that court in high school - we use to play our Regional tournies there. As a player, I loved it! Loved the elevated "stage" and loved being far enough away fm my coach that his yelling only mattered during time outs.

Last and only time I was there to see a game was back in the mid 80's ? when Loudon County HS boys bball team was playing for a state championship. one of my much younger cousins was a 6'7" center for them. He was pretty good for a raw country white boy. But some team from Memphis came thru and beat the stuffing out of Loudon. :(

Don't think they've ever made it back to a state tourney?
