Vandy pregame discussion

Ogilvy is one of the most overrated big men out there. Anyone who doesn't see that with their eyes has something wrong with them.

Take my $5,000 NCAA Tournament bet and I'll consider taking your ridiculous bet based on some made up stat.

You're bet had nothing to do with the point I was making, and then becomes just a bet which I can find better odds on in any place I bet. Which is ipso facto dumb for any sane person.

That you always involve money instead of just letting your opinions speak for themself tells me something, though.

How dare you question him? He's a defensive stopper the likes of which college basketball hasn't seen since Alonzo Mourning.

It's a messageboard, tiger, it's all half-in-jest and light-hearted, i mean we're talking about sports here, not life and death. I could be polite and congenial, but as you see from the likes of hat and bigpapa and etc. the best and most interesting kind of interactions are the oomph-y ones. It's not rocket science here in php land.

Wow , OK to each his own.

good night and yall try to keep the blood pressures down:snoring:

Proving something I already know, i.e. that I forget more basketball eating breakfast than you know, is only worthwhile if there is an incentive involved. That's where the money comes in.

I'm not even a big ogilvy fan, but watch what vandy does this year on the inside vs teams that don't place in the top 30 in O boards and you'll see something different than what you're believing.

I mean we shot like 30 percent in the first half. And---hold your breath everybody--that was AT MEMORIAL!

AT MEMORIAL!!!!!! I think someone said memorial is worth '8 points'.

I'm shocked i tell ya, shocked I say.

Just as I thought.

Thanks for playing.:)

Hey be sure to mention in your next post how because team X lost last week their coach X is on the hot seat. I'm really interested in that 'know'ledge.

Translation: "Watch Vanderbilt against teams with no interior offense and you too can make the ridiculous assertion that they play good interior defense."

man then what's the problem? why don't you take me up on the bet then? you don't even have to do anything really except say "i think vandy will be lower than the top 3rd of teams by season's end in interoir D"?

I don't get what the hold-up is

Our post play (Wayne, Brian, Tyler and Negedu) went 53% from the field tonight...

That was some INTENSE interior D.

The hold up is that stat geeks like you come up with stats that actually measure nothing. How many even decent post scorers has Vanderbilt played against? You babble on about numbers. I, on the other hand, can actually watch a game and figure out rather quickly who can and cannot play. Ogilvy and the rest of those guys can't guard the ground they stand on. Any stat that says otherwise is worth as much as a handful of Enron stock coupons.

Don't you know? They are in the top third of the country in some KenPom.com worthless stat. They have to be good. Don't let seeing them get their ass kicked with your own eyes distort that.

I don't think you understand how D's adjust in latter stages of games when they are behind. I mean for all the jokes about how I'm the stat guy who doesn't watch games, it seems kinda weird that some people are ignoring a basic tenet of game-watching, which is seperating the wheat from the chaff in this stuff.

Are you really telling me our percentage wasn't a result of certain D adjustments and chism's dominance over O.?(which, again, has been a vol trademark this year and which accoutns for our incredibly high placing in O boards this year)

Chism sure was dominant on the offensive boards tonight... with his one. Great to see all those put backs upped the FG%.

I dunno man, are you dumb or something? He didnt invent these stats, they are there for anyone to see, it's pretty obvious. Anyone with grade-3 level math skills could figure this ish out on thier own.

But again: good point with the 'seeing' thing. Hey guys wow arkansas is soooo awesome, they killed texas and the sooners. OMG watch out SEC!

oh right, that is an example of stupidity.

Don't you realize how that one board forced that stout Vanderbilt interior defense to change tactics and intentionally suck tonight?

I picked Arkansas to finish last in the West before the season started.

People who actually know what they are watching recognize flukes. That's why you'll find nothing showing me getting on the Arkansas bandwagon. Pretty much all you'll find from me is a prediction they'd finish last in the West and consistent ridicule of John Pelphrey.
