Vandy RB Davis enters portal

Wouldn't be a bad addition to the RB room for depth.
But as a guy that played significant time last year, you have to wonder how much time he would get behind Small, Wright, and Sampson?

Not to mention we got a couple RB recruits coming in and are in the running for a big time JUCO guy too...

I think there will be a lot more running in the Tennessee offense in 2023

I’m fine with it as long as the defense takes a huge jump. I hate watching that group lol

Lane had to alter his scheme a little this year to being run heavy. Personnel changes every yr will do that. Good offensive coaches like Heup and Lane know this. Morons like Jimbo keep doing the same thing no matter who’s out there and it inevitably blows up.

Tennessee would i think have been 11-1 with a possibility of 12-0 had the defense just been average.

Takes like this are just incorrect. UT's defense was at least average, if not slightly better than average, for the season as a whole. It had definite weaknesses. Bad ones. But they were good enough in other areas to cover them up enough to be average all season. The difference is that for 1 game they were not average or ever terrible. They were so bad there is not a word to describe them. But that game was not the norm for the entire season. All season long they patched the holes well enough to be decent. That game was an exception.

It was truly one of the worst secondaries I’ve ever watched in my life. These other teams regularly catch passes where there’s not a vol DB even in the tv screen 😆. Over and over again.

That alone makes it worse than average to me.

So the other things that the defense did you actually stop teams from scoring points is unimportant? The red zone defense and turnovers that actually stop teams from scoring is not important? Because the stats over an entire season, says that our defense was not below average. We can have an all-time bad secondary and still be an average defense in the biggest stat that matters: points scored.

Guess an average defense would’ve helped our offense score more than 13 points in Athens? Are we so blinded by the defense that we can’t admit that the offense didn’t work that game? Got out game planned on that side of the ball. Doesn’t mean the offense will never work against them but it didn’t that day bc they shut it down, just a fact. That’s not on the defense.

11-1 without a doubt. The defense lost the game at SCar. Defense didn't lose us the UGA game though. We'd be 11-1 and in the playoffs if we had a decent defense on Nov 19.

Yep crazy the affect of not having Banks on the filed made... makes you wander about next year already.

Agree. We have bigger needs and while he's a good one, he's not that much better than what we have and have coming in.

Weakness’s. Very bad against the pass.
I think what everyone is thinking is if we were just average in the secondary we could, possibly beat anyone.

We already could possibly beat everyone as it is

The 2 losses say different.
You see that’s the difference between being average and bottom.
You’re gonna play close to your average most of the time, above it in your best games and below it in your best games.
Them 1 or 2 below was going to get us at some point.
If our average was a couple levels higher we might of been able to survive them 1-2
