Well said!
Why belittle your step brother for doing something you didn't do. I'm happy for Vandy and hope they win WHATEVER bowl game they play in. Any UT fan that pokes fun of Vandy this year needs to look in the mirror. Go Dores (for 1 week)

are you drunk?

No it's not. So we had a bad year. No bowl. Look at Vandy's situation. It's funny, now point and laugh. You won't have the chance to laugh at Vandy for their bowl destination very often.

I still don't see the humor. Vandy went 6-6 and is going to a lower tier bowl. How does the destination make it funny? Do you think they expected Miami?

It's funny that after going without a bowl for so long, they finally get one. Then....here comes the funny part, they play in their hometown.

VAndy getting a rare bowl+possibly playing in their own town=funny.

The whole bowl experience of traveling to a town, being showered with the bowl gifts, kinda loses its luster since its your same town.

He's not really a homer. But he is a vandy grad.

I am a Vandy grad, but could care less about the success of their football team. The last time I had any measurable rooting interest in an outcome against anybody other than Kentucky was 1997, when the last of my friends on the team graduated.

I thought the main goal was to play in the postseason and not be stuck watching everyone else over the holidays. The fact that you get an extra month of practice and then get to do it on national television aren't bad perks, either. As far as holiday destinations, I'd say Nashville ranks as high as Dallas or Atlanta, and higher than Memphis or Birmingham, but I did live there for a while, so I might be a little biased. And truth be told, it probably suits everybody concerned that the Dores aren't loading up their contingent of dozens of fans and heading to Shreveport.

I don't think USC has ever minded playing in LA, or the Canes in Miami, but if the travel is that important, maybe I didn't realize the disadvantage. My guess is that somebody at Vanderbilt has already counted the money saved on travel expenses and earmarked it for new carpeting in the athletic office, anyway.

Vandy + Nashville may indeed = funny, but I don't get it.

Let's not get into this discussion again... but let's just leave it at this... Memphis as a city >>>>>>> Nashville:)

I think it is mildly humorous that even the Music City Bowl didn't want Vandy. They just got stuck with them if the article is true.

Nobody wants Vandy. They have no fan base to attend games or watch them on TV. The Music City will take them, but you know they would rather have a Kentucky (who they've hosted 3 times,) Bama (twice,) or another SEC team with a good following, particularly in a year where the ACC representative might not draw well, either.

That wasn't his argument. He stated that Vandy was missing out on something by not traveling to a faraway land. Of course you would take a better bowl if it was offered. If it isn't, your hometown is as good as anywhere else.

Time to cut back on the hard drugs, dickens :p
