VCU rams

I've looked at the statistics and I realize that Tennessee if quite deep, however, don't sleep on VCU, we are pretty darn deep too. Additionally, we have some serious athletes. I think this game could be a straight up barn burner. High scoring and entertaining until the end.

This should be fun, we don't get a lot of shots at BCS schools, so this will be a big game for our guys.

Go Rams!

This team is not ready to beat anybody by 15 points, given our weak guard play, turnovers and at best spotty performances thus far, unless the opponent has a really bad night.

Our freshmen get comfortable on O and Hopson brings his lunchpail, we will house some people this year. We are going to have awful nights because that's an issue with a leaderless Pearl coached squad.

We have a week to prepare and matchup against VCU. Our coaches are better and have played tougher opponents (and won) than the VCU staff. It all depends on what Bruce and the staff see in VCU's film. Keep in mind that our ball handler, Goins, has played 2 games. He'll be ok. Trae grew a little last night. Also, what LawVol said is absolutely right. VCU isn't going to want to run the court all game with the athletes on this deep of a team. I think in a our worst case scenario we'll have a barn burner in the end. I don't think any team outside the top 10 garners a "bad matchup" against the Vols. IMO.

That's our game, we run the floor all game, regardless of the opponent. Like I said earlier, I realize UT is deep, so are we. This is going to be a VERY interesting game.

I watched the vols play the rams in 1981 in the NCAA east. Ellis pulled the game out by 2 points but not until a few vcu miscues at the end. They had it until the end. Living in this area I can say vcu has been playing good basketball for a long time. I have not seen them play this year but I know they have several state player of the year players from the highest level high schools starting for them. Also I checked the best team in richmond comment. u richmond has been vcu's girlfriend for a long time and has lost the last 6 in a row. This will be a difficult game.

First off VCU will finish at best 3rd in the ACC, oh wait I mean the CAA :post-4-1090547912:. Eric Maynor is not on your team anymore, and congratulations on beating WF but they are terrible. Let's be honest that was the biggest win in VCU history. Losing to Duke by a few points in the tournament 4 years ago doesn't count as a win, I live in Richmond and yes don't lie that's all VCU still talks about. The first season you have where you win the CAA and make the dance again will be the one where Smart takes a job elsewhere, and you have to start all over again. For a university of 32,000+ students your athletic department is a joke. Stick to your art clases, dying your hair some neon color(s) skinny jeans, bong rips, not showering, growing your Bob Marley dreads, dressing like you found your clothes in the garbage, riding your mopeds in the fan, Keith Olberman fan clubs, and being weird in general.

"VCU will not be a problem for us"

WOW. If this is the attitude of the coaching staff, prepare for a 40 point beat down. VCU would have destroyed the team that showed up against MS tonight.

40 points, Jeeperz! They must be so good!!

And to think that I was going to have to wait all the way into February in hopes that ESPN will have them on during their "Bracketbuster" week. Shaka Smart must have his lineup stacked with ESPN Top 150 recruits huh?

You are incredibly well informed. Congrats on that.

First, VCU did beat Duke in 2007, 79-77. We've had several Coaches over the past 8 years. Jeff Capel, Anthony Grant and now Shaka Smart. We haven't skipped a beat yet. I'm sorry you find our athletic department a joke, I'm guessing your critique is based off the fact that we have no football. VCU has very successful soccer, tennis, baseball, track, golf, volleyball and this year field hockey programs. To live in Richmond your ignorance about VCU is overwhelming. It's ashame you live in Richmond, as VCU has done wonderful things for the city.

VCU will bring their A game and will undoubtedly be prepared for UT. It is going to be a very interesting and exciting game, I'm very much so looking forward to it.

Clearly he's an ODU fan that doubles as a Vol fan.

Beat Duke in the 2007 NCAA tournament and took 3-seed Pitt to overtime in the 2nd.
Beat Maryland at the Verizon Center during 2007-2008 season.
Lost by 1 to UCLA in the first round of the 2009 NCAA's.
Beat #17 Oklahoma at home last year.
Have had 2 top-20 NBA first round picks in the last 2 seasons.

For a mid-major we have been pretty good. You obviously are just an ODU fan. It's clear as day. No one who lives in Richmond is THAT ignorant about VCU unless they are just trying to poke insults which would qualify you as a ODU fan.

Good job being pathetic.

so being an ODU fan is bad or is it pathetic? Just want to make sure where I stand

Neither. That was in reference to his poor manners and attempts to put down our program with no provocation from anyone.

the VCU program is the discussion right now. No one here mentioned anything about ODU until you took a similar shot. Funny how that works

Oops on the Duke win. My bad, wasn't thinking... Congratulations, get some rings made to commerorate the Victory and send me the invoice. I don't give a bleep about your field hockey program and I don't think anyone else does either. Pat on the back for winning the CBI last year, that was a truly wonderful thing VCU did for the city of Richmond. I'm so grateful.

You'll find the only people who refer to VCU and their students that way are ODU fans. Forgive me for taking exception to someone insulting our school.

The fact of the matter is you guys struggled against Belmont and Missouri State on your home floor. I have no reason to believe that it will be a game on a neutral court. I think we have a good shot and I'm not predicting a win, but it will be a very good contest and make for entertaining basketball.

For the record I could care less about ODU. My allegiance to any University in the state lies with UR. Aside from me graduating from UT, my entire family are UR alums. We tend to strive for a lot better than what VCU has to offer.

Oh that makes sense now. :)

I'll save the pissing match on your boards and let the scoreboard the last 6 years do the talking with you.

Here's to a good match.

Just stating the facts about our athletic program since you are under the assumption that it is such a "joke." VCU has very competitive and successful athletic teams across the board, that was my point there, I'm glad you were able to understand that.

My comment about the wonderful things VCU has done for the City stem from VCU's revitalization of downtown Richmond, particularly the Broad Street corridor, but you may not know anything about that as I'm sure you live in a surrounding suburb and rarely get downtown.

FWIW, our fans WERE NOT happy about the CBI thing, we just accepted the fact that we got screwed by the NIT and made the best of it. We are a very proud program and we are looking forward to the opportunity to get a victory against a Top 25 program on Wednesday.
