I have watched three guy go out of business in the last ten years who had financial or economic degrees.

Applied their book theories to the business and when the formula didn’t work they couldn’t wing it or play things off the cuff.

My greatest lesson ever was the year I nearly lost everything. Most business owners learn from their mistakes and spring board from them. When you are stuck with formulas, it’s sometimes hard to adapt real time.

The business, or capitalistic world, is a mean lady sometimes. It is necessary to "weed out" inefficient business or practice preferably sooner rather than later. Look at the USPS being an ineffectual model that is not budget supported and they are a dysfunctional mess.


When the next recession occurs and it will, if u artificially subdue with monetary of gov policy for political reasons only, then it will only leave a much worse impact. There is a reason we currently have had one of the longest periods without recession in the nation because we never really expanded in the first place to have the subsequent.

This is interesting that we were technically out of the recession in 1-1/2 years, which is way beyond normal as the others post WWII were within months, although the last one was a doozy. Typically cannot have a recession without the prior growth, unless you are socialistic and then u can have no growth and no national recession, only personal dismay.

My wife is from Peru and I have spent considerable time there. Poor Peru, who scarcely can afford any kind of economic setback, is becoming inundated with Venezuelans escaping Vz. Peruvians in large numbers are losing jobs to Venezuelans willing to work for less. Wife says she never imagined Peru could be anyone's place to find a better life.

It wasn't too long ago that Peru elected a Hugo Chavez supporter as President (Humala) but thankfully he governed to center-right, seeing that the voters ultimately rejected leftism, thank goodness. Hopefully Peru has had enough economic gains in recent years to prevent support for leftists in the future. The crisis in Vz probably reinforces this idea.
