Yet we still would have won had not James, Vescovi, Gainey and Mashack combined for a total of 5 points.
Vescovi looks lost, like his neurons are mis-firing. What was a smooth, effortless shot has turned into a somewhat discombobulated mess.JJJ was unusually passive on offense, but Vescovi is the guy who concerns me a bit. He hasn't been the same all season, and he was just throwing up bricks from 3. I keep waiting for the switch to turn on, and hopefully it happens before March. I don't think Gainey gets enough minutes to get in any kind of flow, and regarding Mashack, any offense we get from him is a bonus.
I'd have to agree.....THIS was the overarching problem against MSU. Sure...Smith had a great game...but he's a great player. But those 4 guys MUST contribute more on the offensive end...especially on the road...Yet we still would have won had not James, Vescovi, Gainey and Mashack combined for a total of 5 points.
4 losses: Purdue, Kansas, UNC, Miss St.
Edey, Dickerson, Bacot, Tolu Smith all had monster games.
When we have played elite centers, they have absolutely destroyed us. Teams without an elite center we've had little issues with. Going to be interesting throughout the year if we can improve against elite bigs and also going to be an interesting thing to check out when the tournament bracket comes out at the end of the year as far as matchups go.
