Very interesting read about our coach!

Pay the Man. He's the One we've been longing for. Show him what he means to us.
Ok, I will probably get slaughtered for this, but oh well...

How much money does one man need to be loyal to a team/university/fanbase? If I am reading correctly he is already a millionaire 5 times over. When I see him, I don't see dollar signs in his eyes. I see a genuine love for his players and the game of football. I don't begrudge him one cent of his salary, but I sure hope it's more than money that motivates him.

CJH is not worried about the $. He's 100% coaching and developing staff. His agent on the other hand is supposed to get him every $ he can... and present him with every offer that comes along.

Let's say you drive a truck for FedEx and make $50,000 per year. UPS comes to you and says we know you like driving for FedEx but we will pay you $125,000 to come drive for us and we will guarantee even more if we were to fire you in 3 years AND if we fire you, you can go drive for someone else and we will still pay your salary. Don't be naive enough to say "I would not take that job because I like FedEx" most everyone would jump on that chance.

If at the end of the year aTm fires Jimbo and pays him whatever crazy amount they owe him and then come after Heupel, Danny White better be ready to pony up the big contract or Huepel could be coaching at aTm next year spending all of that oil money.

I get the comparison, but it's not really comparable situations. $50k a year isn't generational wealth. 125k isn't either but it's a significant upgrade and leads to a far more comfortable life than 50k.

Meanwhile, going from $5m a year to say $8m or even $10m doesn't really change anything for the person, unless they're out there on mansion and yacht buying sprees. They're already about as comfortable as one can get in life at the 5m salary, their family will never have to worry so long as they aren't idiots with the money, etc.

What the 5 to 8 jump or 5 to 10 jump is, however, is a ego/status boost. And coaches are some of the most egotistical people on the planet.

Everyone wants to be compensated to reflect their value. Given that CJH is NOT IN THE TOP HALF of SEC compensation, he is not being adequately paid. Given UT’s stature in SEC football, he should be slotted somewhere between 4-6 in the conference. And if he does something really special, it needs to continue going up.

Lol 100% chance Jimbo is retained barring some sort of crazy scenario where he's terminated w cause.

You pay him as much as anyone would be willing to offer him if they wanted to hire him. If we win championships of any kind this season, his pay should be similar to Kirby Smart.

I bet Danny starts a go fund me for a JH raise sometime around the turn of January.

I am very happy with our coach so far, but I don’t want to prematurely start turning the keys to the city over to him. Just like the article says, can he keep it up? I think he is smart and I really want him to build something special here and genuinely want to be here. If he does that, then he will get paid well.

I would say by years end he will be making $8-9 million dollars. I say why not Tennessee is sold out as far as you can see and it's all because of CJH. There no telling what Tennessee football program will make this year and at this level of winning if it continues which really there no reason for it to not then with all the money that is coming from everywhere like it is in The SEC then $8 to $9 million will not be a really big deal. Beside it all comes down to pay market of coaches.
