Vescovi

Vescovi is not playing good but neither is anyone else. I thought pons played well but he is so inconsistent too. Vescovi should not be running the point. How is it we don’t have a point guard? Bone has been gone for what two years? Vescovi has no drive and often gets himself in trouble when going to the hoop. Some games he hits threes others he’s cold. Same as the rest of the team.

Fulkerson has been very inconsistent and a non threat lately. Like what is going on. He never seems to go in and battle in the paint.

He handles the ball more than anyone and he doesn't even lead the team in turnovers. He has a nearly 2:1 assist/turnover ratio, is our most consistent volume 3 point shooter, is second on the team in steals, and is one of our better rebounding guards. To single Santi out for being a liability is baffling.
It baffles me too, but people see what they want to see. I think people would be surprised if they compared Vescovi's stats to the other guards. He isn't the weakest link statistically.

Two guard who is playing to much point guard and handling the ball to much. We should move someone else to the point guard position which would be the injured Springer. Keon could play the three with Pons four and Fulkerson five. You could back up Springer with James or Keon and Bailey could play some two with Vescovi. Inside after Fulkerson and Pons is scary. I think K man is the best next to give minutes to in there and anyone else including Anosike only in a severe emergency situation. If Barnes can't find some post players next season we fall to the bottom half of the league. I don't see anything ever out of the seven foot guy, not much ever from Anosike or Pember. K man is serviceable as a sub.

Uros is apparently just not a BB player at this level, if he is at any level. I mean if your 7 ft tall and cannot get any minuets on this team right now with the weak inside play then he is not going to get any. Barnes needs to be mining the portal to find inside help for next season.

He’s probably too clumsy to get many minuets.

He's averaging 1.8 turnovers a game; had 3 against Colorado, 3 and 4 against Missouri, and 1 or 2 every other game. Not only is that not "a turnover machine", it's the exact opposite. He's the main reason we lead the conference in fewest turnovers per game. My main worry is Fulky. He's a step slower than last year and seems to have no confidence. Desperately need him to turn it around.

SV is painful to watch. Bad with turnovers and controlling the overall pace of the game. Big reason why we don't score in transition. Picks up dribbles, 1000 dribbles to go 10 feet and is awful driving the ball. Hes a much better 2 . I would rather see KJ, VB, JJJ, JS run point. SV is a liability. Mizzou guards had a career day vs him. Its a guard game and it will show in March, for those homers watching SV.

I don’t know where all of the Vescovi is bad with turnovers narrative comes from. Maybe because he started his career with quite a few. He makes about 2 per game and is being forced to handle the ball much more than somebody that’s not a PG should. He might be stripped more than average, but he’s cut way back on throwing the ball away.

Need to move JJJ to primary at point. Vescovi's best asset is his 3-pt shooting. He ain't gonna beat anyone off the dribble nor keep any quick PG from getting by him. We have the same mismatches against bigs. Seems we overhelp so much that open 3s are there all day.

Are you kidding? KJ turns the ball over more than Santi. KJ needs to play the 3. Not the 1.

We have 5 players sharing duties to advance the ball... none of whom are ideal PGs. Which one gets the PG duties probably has more to do with the combinations and matchups rather than who’s most effective at getting the ball across mid court.

Lol, directly after multiple posts that display actual stats proving he does not turn the ball over that much and we post "bad with turnovers." Now, pace of the game, yes, he is not able from the PG position to get us playing at a fast pace. That is true.

Kennedy Chandler should remedy this issue.

He has a hip pointer, Fulkerson has lost weight and is getting pushed and others are also trying to recover form injuries. They will play better when they heal.

lay off SV; it was obvious he was in pain and is helluva compeitor
hope he's here for 2 more years, plus wel see a dynamite PG next november and possibly one of the nation's best backcourt
nobody was doing much slow Pinson on urday

yes when he is in top shape, never wants to come out or gets tired - was easy to tell he was playing in pain

Yeah, he, like Fulkerson,
is playing through nagging injuries. Everyone needs to relax. Lots of games left on the schedule
Long way to go! Vescovi is not a point guard though. Struggles with his ball handling, especially trying to dribble to his right; therefore, takes deep in shot clock by the time he gets us in offense. Every basket is a struggle. He cannot guard any point guards in this league. Not quick and tough enough. That said, he is our best three point shooter
